What People are saying

Paper thin walls

Larry Kon 18/08/2017 15:30

We stayed at this Inn during the Hops in the Hills event. I do not know why they can this place an inn since its really a hotel with a restaurant that has prices that are 30% above average. The big issue we had was with the some of the guests although according to management there was no one in the room next to us. We heard yelling next door that felt like the group was in our room. After my wife made a comment, the noise dropped, This happened 2 nights in a row. The outdoor pool is heated and was warm while we stayed there. The indoor pool facility was so chlorinated that we left in minutes with eyes burning. Parking is ok but not great here.

Fantastic place

We visited the resort twice this summer and will most likely come back.
Very nice resort, with a lot of activities for both children and adults.
Nice pool area and fitness facilities.
We had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen and it was nice and clean.
The staff was extremely friendly and eager to make our stay fantastic.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing and

"Hops in the Hills" Weekend was awesome

We celebrated our 30th high school reunion at the "Hops in the Hills" beer and wine fest at this resort. Thankfully the weather cooperated as it was all outside. The beer selection was extensive and terrific. At the hotel, the rooms were large and well maintained. The whole event and accommodations were reasonably priced. We had an amazing time. The restaurant in the resort was wonderful too.

Can't Believe I'm Comparing This to a Motel

Jack Don 18/07/2017 03:47

Since 2014, I attended this annual family reunion around the month of July. It's a fun gathering, although, this year, was a little different compared to every other year I went to this reunion. Every year prior to this, I stayed in Lincoln, NH, and this was at a motel by the name of Woodwards Inn of Lincoln. This year, we stayed in Ludlow, VT, so instead of the White Mountains we stayed in the Green Mountains. That's fine, I don't mind change. That is, as long as it is good change. The hotel I stayed in this year was less than satisfactory. Let's start off with some pros. It's an enormous property. There's a lot of space for many people. It may have the number of stories which can qualify around a standard hotel, but it's massive. The staff is pretty friendly, I have no complaints as far as they're concerned. The maintenance is not bad. The place overall is clean and only one cleanliness issue stands in mind which is that I found a bottle of Bud Light lying down outside one of the property's elevators. Speaking of the elevators, those are fine too, except for the poor controller I experienced on one of them and the fact that one elevator wouldn't take my call despite it being on the floor I was on (fixed by calling it again), but I gotta say, the main set of elevators, has a weird setup. Most of the hotel's elevators have a single slide door, which is actually the case with one of the elevators in the main bank. But there's also one with a two-speed door, like the kind you'd normally find in a hospital. It's kinda weird and out of place. In fact, just for fun, I walked through the property and stumbled on a service elevator, I didn't ride it because it's more of an employee lift as opposed to a passenger lift, but that also had the same two speed door setup as one of the elevators in the main bank. I'm willing to bet the capacity would have been the same too (4500 lbs). By the way, in case it brings any relevance, the single slide elevators are 2100 lbs. Throughout my stay, I was in two rooms. They were both booked at the same time because one of the people I was going with had their own room. The first room I slept in was a standard guestroom, room 362, it had two beds, based on what I gathered I could probably confirm they're queen. I slept on one with my dad, it was just horrible. I usually stay up late, but this was one of those times, when I was TRYING to go to sleep. I slept on firm mattresses before, but this wasn't firm. This was a rock. At one point, I almost tried sleeping on the floor, it was that bad. The room itself is clean however, and the bathroom is fine too. Although one problem I have with the room is the TV setup. The TV itself was nice, it was a Samsung flat screen, and one of the perks this place has is that it provides DVD players. There was a DVD player, it was either a Philips or a Sony, Philips is more likely from what I recall. I didn't use it, and I actually brought my own Blu-Ray player so I almost set it up completely so I could play movies in a higher quality. The problem with this DVD player is that there's no remote for it! There's a TV remote, but no DVD player remote. My second and third nights were spent in room 360, which was a suite. This was right next to the room I spent my first night in. I really wasn't comfortable with the bed I had so I figured since this room has a pull out couch, I might as well spend my night in this room. This bad wasn't as comfortable as the one from the night before, but I was sleeping on it alone which gave me more room. To actually make it a bed instead of a standalone mattress, I grabbed three blankets of similar color. They were located in the bedroom closet in this room. The closet contained multiple pillows, I grabbed two, and there was one in room 362 which was handed over to me by my dad, thanks by the way. I used a large blanket to create a sheet to cover the whole mattress. Then I used one blanket to cover myself, then I also used another one for the same reason. You could probably say I either used two cover sheets, or I used one of these sheets as a bedspread or a comforter. As far as the rest of the room goes, there's a guest bathroom, which was tidy. There was also a bathroom in the bedroom portion, I never used it, but from a close distance it looked fine, and it was also bigger than the guest one. The room has two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. The bedroom TV is the same as the one in room 362, a Samsung flat screen, which was the same size too. The difference between the setup in the suite bedroom and the other guestroom is that there was no DVD player. The living room had a TV as well, a Panasonic flat screen which was a bit bigger than the Samsungs. It also had a Blu-Ray player under the Panasonic label. There was also a kitchen which seemed to be in near perfect condition, and I say near-perfect because I was told that the toaster in the room is a bit quirky. I never used the toaster, all that I ate throughout the entire stay had no involvement with the toaster. The appliances were under the Whirlpool brand and the only one I really used was the fridge/freezer, which worked OK, the fridge had the light flickering on and off, but it still worked. Both rooms had adequate storage space, not that I needed it, I used my suitcase for that purpose, but still, it was adequate and had necessary materials. There was also a balcony for the suite, the view was towards the main entry of the property. Overall, it wasn't a bad view. The property also had an on-site restaurant referred to as the Coleman Brook Tavern. I went there on my first night for dinner and the service was friendly. The menu was limited, and the prices weren't cheap, I got a burger for $16. Overall, I enjoyed the burger, and the place had a variety of bread. I wouldn't rush back to the place though. The place also had an area referred to as the "Adventure Zone," which is pretty much similar to Attitash in the White Mountains. I never entered it or anything, but I heard about it, and it's not cheap. The pool area was decent, there was a large pool that was mostly outdoor, but a very small portion of it was indoor. There were also three hot tubs, two of which were outdoor and one of which was indoor. I went in the pool and one of the outdoor hot tubs. The pool was heated, it was at a good temperature, and the hot tub was relaxing. I may be imagining things, but I don't recall going to many hotels and hearing lots of noise outside my closed door in my room. That happened here though. Also, coming to Ludlow during the summer is honestly not a good idea as opposed to Lincoln, where my other hotel was. I never ordered pizza there, but we thought of ordering pizza here in Ludlow. Every place was closed. To satisfy our pizza cravings, we had to go down to Shaw's and buy pizza in the frozen foods aisle. Also, one year, for a different occasion, I stayed at Nordic Village in Bartlett, NH, also in the White Mountains. We ordered pizza there once and got it without any hassle, not here. Really guys? I get this is a popular winter destination and this is off season, but could you please at least keep ONE pizza place open? Also, I don't like Starbucks, but I there are a couple Starbucks locations near the hotel, but those were closed too. This disappointed my aunt during her star, and I assure you if my mother stayed here during the summer, she would probably feel the same way. My three star rating of this place may be a little bit of an overreaction. But all in all, this place should have brought more to the table. If I came here in the winter, I may have ended up liking this spot slightly more, but I'm not much of a "winter in the mountains vacation enthusiast." There's a lot to like about the property, but there are just some things that contributed to the overall tediousness of my stay which lead to this place kind of irking me. Also, when a motel which a lot of my family considered to be untidy ends up getting a greater seal of approval from me than this place, that's not good. Next family reunion, I want to stay elsewhere, but I'm not the one in charge of picking the hotel, maybe when I'm older I can have that kind of power, oh well, we'll see what the future holds! And besides, I also probably have Rhode Island Comic Con in November to do that!

Amazing customer service and romantic place!
