What People are saying

Very Disappointing!

TexasTaxManon 16/06/2017 15:52

Well, disappointing is the best way to describe it. The lodge itself was great and loved hanging out there when it was cold and wet, but the service at the restaurant (Pioneer Grill) was horrible every time we ate there and our room was a dump...both of them.

When we first checked in we were excited to see our view from the room and when we pulled back the curtains it was pure awesomeness....a corner rooftop view. Basically stunk. I called the front desk to request a different room and while nothing was available, people would be checking out and the gentleman I spoke with said he'd move us for our next two nights.

In the meantime there were dirty wash cloths hanging in the bathtub and the tub was full of hair caught in the drain...disgusting.

Oh, and no television! Game 6 of the Stanley Cup on that first night and no tv. One in the bar. What type of room costs $355/night and comes with no tv? The next evening was the NBA championship game and our 12yr old daughter had to park a bench outside the bar door to catch the game.

So back to the room with a view...we were notified that our bags were moved to our new room while outside of the lodge and so when we got back we were happy to know we'd get a beautiful view of the Grand Tetons. Well, not exactly. A different angle of the rooftop. Perfect and actually comical at that point. We joked about turning the tv on. The kicker for the new room was the ceiling fan...crank that baby up above "low" and it was so wobbly and loud we thought it was going to fly off and decapitate one of us.

A nice little coffee bar in the lodge...that closed at 3:00p.m.. Seriously...3:00?

The food service in the grill was so slow with different parts of the meal coming out at different times. The problem in our mind was that the wait staff consisted of young adults that probably didn't typically work in the food service business. They come in for the summer for jobs and really have no clue what they're doing.

As we checked out the last morning I mentioned that I wanted to complain about our overall experience in the lodge and rather than give even giving me lip service, I was told I'd be able to express myself in a survey that I'd receive via email. A great way to end the stay.

The 3 stars are for the view from the Lodge itself as well as the lodge. Not the hotel, total dump. Wouldn't stay there again.

Beautiful location, not a very good value for your $

This hotel is rather dated, no micro, TV, or 'frig in room, cannot walk to other places to eat, service in their restaurants was very very slow. They are staffed by collage age kids from around the US and the world and are so enjoyable to interact with. The cleaning in the rooms leaves a lot to be desired - furniture on our back deck had not been cleaned since last fall? The bedding was very comfortable though chairs in the room very large and hard to move around to accommodate our traveling companions.

Fantastic Views

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days in a lodge room with a view that looked straight at the mountains. The rooms are basic and the bathrooms small but the service and view trumps that. This is our 6th stay at this lodge and we book our stay for the opening day of the season. The staff is very friendly and help full. Our check-in was uneventful but the check-out at 5:00 am was long and tedious when the desk person couldn't figure it out (new employee.) The doormen are a real asset in that they greet you each time you enter or leave the building.

Not what we expected for the money!

The location of the lodge is nice since it is located inside of the Grand Tetons National Park. The view from the lobby of the hotel is also nice with huge windows overlooking the mountains. Most of the rooms are located in little "cottages" on the property, kind of like row housing. You have a little porch with a view of the parking lot. There is absolutely NO view from the rooms. You share walls with people on both sides and a door with the people behind you. In our case, the people had a dog with them and obviously left him. As soon as we walked in the room that evening the dog started yipping. It was be quiet and we would start talkig and it woudl start again. We were not about to pack up all of our things, get the children dressed again, and ask for another room. At over $300 a night, I did not expect to have a yippy dog keeping us up.It would seem to me that management would put all families with dogs together. We have a dog too, but it stays at home on vacation. Also, at that price I expect the room to be clean. It was not. The hair that was left in the drain of the shower was disgusting. My husband went in and cleaned out the shower before our daughter would step foot inside of it. The overall cleanliness of the room was lacking. It had not been thoroughly dusted in sometime. It was a huge disappointment for our family. We don't usually splurge on such expensive accommodations and this one was truly a disappointment. When we checked out in the morning and voiced our complaint, the "I'm sorry" did not really help.It is sad to say, but our stay at a $120 hotel the next night was much nicer, cleaner, and more enjoyable! If you are thinking of staying here because of the view, it is not worth it. I would have rather had a good nights sleep and a clean room!

Best location, free wifi, good food

Stayed on June 2nd, 2017.

Walk up the stairs from the lobby and you'll see why everyone is gushing about the wonderful views. There is quite simply no better place to view the mountains.

Overall, the rooms are authentic/rustic but pleasant. No TVs, not that I was looking for one. I also genuinely appreciate that they provide no-hassle wifi - no login codes needed.

The food options were impressive as well compared to other National Parks - meaning they had options other than burgers and hotdogs at reasonable prices. For example, I was at Yellowstone - you either got just lettuce (but most of the time even that was sold out) or you had to pay an arm and a leg for a semi-decent meal. Not the case here.

We were passing through on our way to Yellowstone, but we were so impressed, we want to come back for longer!
