What People are saying
Unique
2atthebaron 07/06/2017 15:24This is the third trip to Jake's for us. It's a very unique small inn owned by the Hensell family. Father Perry is the creator of the famous movie, The Harder They Come and the roots of Jamaican culture is everywhere to be seen. Each cottage and villa is individually designed and decorated. If you appreciate color, art and funkiness you will love Jake's. It's a totally unique property. If you're looking for nightlife and lots of restaurants Treasure Beach is not for you. But if you want to chill, eat great food at either the restaurant at the hotel or at their sister restaurant, Jack Sprat's you will not go hungry - the food is delicious, this is for you! Enjoy the fresh saltwater pool, have a drink at Dougie's Bar, eat great jerk chicken and pork available from the proprietor of the convenience store up the street on Saturdays or watch an outdoor movie at Jack Sprat's on Thursday night. Also, they have a spa, yoga and you can take a cooking session. If you want to keep busy you can do that. Drivers are available if you don't have a car and there are a lot of day trips. We stayed in Octopus 1 which was a spacious villa which opened onto a deck with the sea practically splashing on the deck. It also has a second level outdoor deck. How about an outdoor shower with a claw foot tub - loved it. Jake's is eco friendly.
Be sure to know that It's a 2+ hour drive but worth every minute. Treasure Beach is a little off the beaten track and they like it that way. We had a transfer because it can be challenging driving Jamaican roads. We just sat back and enjoyed the ride through the beautiful Jamaican countryside along the South Coast.
Special shout outs to Channoy, Adrien, Christopher, DeMarco, Tameica and all the staff. They are all fantastic. Also to Jason Hensell and his family for creating such an amazing property. What more can I say except we'll be back!
So chill, but needs to step it up.
Cyril Ton 24/05/2017 21:47What a chill relaxed spot! Very rustic which is great, but small tweaks would be greatly appreciated!
If you love the beach and wading in the water,as we do, you will be greatly disappointed!!!
Negril Beach is the go to place for that.
I don't understand why Jake's has not cleared out rocks in front of its very lovely cove?!??! At the very least, clear out rocks from around your ladder!! Thank God I saw rocks before descending into water as to push off, unfortunately two other guess got major scratches on feet. Lifeguard right there but does not take a second and inform guests!!! Come on!!
They take Jamaican money and US dollars , and yes do not return sufficient change to cover what was given in US dollars! Not cool. Just be overly fair! We tip!! Drinks not the best!
Food is not bad and fairly priced.
Service very good, awesome staff.
The area is the best for just chillin'
No night life, which is cool.
Great for total down time.
There are two beaches near by in walking distance. You will be stopping for a beer!
There are rocks in water though! Be careful there also.
There is a saltwater pool, saltwater seems not to be pumped freely, so not pleasant.
Accommodations in cliff side quirky and chill.
Worth the trip down south and the bumpy roads ('soon' to be redone)!
Karen Bon 21/05/2017 00:52If you are looking for a laid back place off (or on actually!) the beaten track, then look no more. Away from touristy areas but everything you could want with wonderful sea views, peace, tranquillity, friendly staff, games/TV room, restaurant and Jack Sprat eatery next door and great Wifi. Great place to unwind, some local eateries around but its not a massive tourist strip but that's its charm. Decent pool, can climb or jump into the sea from platform. David, manager v.friendly. We chose it due to it's connection to community and back story etc plus feels like an illusion from the front small entrance to open up into great greenery and sea views. Basic rooms but sea views and privacy make up for it!
Relaxing Yoga Retreat Off the Beaten Path
rmsmit80on 20/05/2017 14:04The staff and service at Jakes is amazing! I felt at home, like I was apart of the Jake's family. The cottages/villas were very unique, comfortable, and most of all scenic with views of the sea or the well manicured Jake's landscape. The food and spa services were amazing. Wonderful location for a Yoga Retreat. The very helpful and accommodating staff has me returning to Jake's next year!
Jamaican holiday
varunmohankumaron 14/05/2017 23:19Jake's has something most resorts strive to have but don't - genuine warmth and friendliness. We were lucky to get the ocean front cottage which was beyond amazing. Waking up to the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, and being able to jump into the water was a wonderful experience. The outdoor shower, coupled with a view of the sea while one showers is pretty awesome!
The staff are extremely friendly, courteous and efficient. Definitely get a drink at the bar by the pier, as well as ask the hotel to book a boat directly to Floyd's Pelican Bar.
The great thing about Jake's is one feels at home, and the place being ticked away in a part of Jamaica not many visit makes it all the more special.
Most definitely looking forward to our next visit there!
