Stayed with my hubby, Bro and sis in law. Initially was really worried as I had been given the job of booking something cheap and cheerful, booked then read the reviews!!!! Was quite worried as some of them were pretty awful and actually having visited would say the negative reviews probably not at all justified. We Had an absolute scream! Jorge is an absolute love! Spent lots of time by the pool and the hotel and facilities are absolutely SPOTLESS.
Not far at all from the strip quite a nice walk, didn't really do the old town as to be honest we were on a child free booze up, lots of groups the same in the hotel but caused absolutely no problems at all.
Noticed a nice family area that seemed pretty busy most days, my only complaint and it's no biggie would be that there needs to be some more sunbeds.
The room was spotless and very spacious, just had one bedroom and my brother and sis in law had the lounge that was huge with big beds. Plenty of storage space.
A fantastic stay would recommend as great value for money, great location and a big up to Jorge who kept us going with vodka slushes! X

OK so after reading reviews I was nervous taking my kids age 11 , 8 and 4 . But once we arrived at 11pm was greeted by great staff and very spacious spotless apartments ! Apartment cleaned everyday . Yes there was a few hen party's but never bothered us and kept themselves to the smaller pool away from kids pool and indoor pool . Food on site was good and within 15 minutes walk to strip . 10 minster to large cheap supermarket. We were in block 3 which was mainly family's. Heard no noise on a night would deffo return.

On check in to Janelas do Mar we were served very quickly and were just handed the key to the apartment, it was a late check in (about 11.30pm) but the person on reception did not give us any information at all, so we went up to our apartments on the dodgy lifts to the beats of a DJ blasting from one of the rooms. Not the best of starts but on awakening we discovered an apartment that was basic but spotlessly clean and spacious and on further exploration we found that the whole complex was just a delight, good pool areas, tennis court, volleyball court, nice reception areas with table tennis, (all free, with equipment available from the reception) and a small mini market. Despite the noise on the first night it was never repeated for the rest of our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the taxi service provided (just 5 Euros) is ideal to get you down to the old town. Overall this proved a real value for money holiday in nice, comfortable apartments situated on in between the old town and the 'strip' about 30 minutes walk either way. Late check out and baggage storage added an extra day to our holiday.

Apartments and communal areas are kept spotlessly clean, staff are all very friendly and helpful. Pool area at block 3 is more than adequate, it has a small snack bar which is slightly overpriced but aren't all hotel bars. Kids loved it. Plenty of sun loungers and parasols. Rooms are very dated and in need of renovation but they are cleaned and towels changed every 2 days. I felt very safe at these apartments.
Lifts are small and slow.

About 8 mins walk from new town or the big supermarket down at the watches roundabout. A good dander to the old town. Taxis needed home especially at night usually less than €5. The complex has 2 taxi vans which will run you down to the town up until 10 at night.

Very reasonable for the price.

Large group stayed for three nights, rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable for the price paid. Perfect for what we needed can't fault it.
Big thanks to Jorge at the pool bar who made our stay that extra bit special, happy and friendly everyday and made everyone feel very welcome.
