Great view and location. NOT foreigner friendly. Too many silly rules.

We can't complain about the rooms cleanliness, location and views. But the service was not great. NOT foreigner friendly at all. They have so many silly rules which make your stay slightly frustrating. Such as swimming caps in the pool. No floates allowed on the big pool. No drinking near the pool. They stay were not helpful as well. They didn't help get taxis easily. Overall I wouldn't stay there again.

Affordable luxury in Sanya

I stayed at the Royal Garden for 1 night at the end of a 3 day business trip to Sanya. It was a big improvement on the hotel I stayed in for the first 2 nights (the Liking Hotel - previously known as the 'Landscape Hotel' around the corner). The hotel property is perched high on a hill with views of the sea below (though the views have sadly been partially blocked by the hotel opposite and by another large development that appears to have been ground to a halt). One of the stand out attractions of the hotel is the lovely infinity pool (with the views described above). The rooms are also pleasant. I had the breakfast buffet and like the many locally managed hotels in China, there were very limited western food options. Hotel staff were friendly (though again, as with most local hotels, very limited English is spoken). Catching a taxi from there is easy enough if you book this beforehand and the local taxis are very cheap (compared with Shanghai or Beijing)

Stayed for a very long break.
Plusses... Big rooms, polite and efficient service, with extra attempts made to understand English, location is in a nice area, a short walk from decent bars and cafes and restaurants, sea view
Minuses... Breakfast extremely limited for Western tastes, inability to get taxi service

The Royal Garden Resort Resort VIP Villas are located on the hillside on LuLing Lu overlooking DaDongHai. Currently the views are amazing but there is construction underway across the road and down the hill which could impact depending on the height attained. This is my second stay here and it is a decent place. The rooms are large and while not 5-star are very comfortable and functional. The bathroom has a retractable blind separating it from the rest of the room so you can watch TV from the bath if that is your thing!!! TV has HBO and Cinemax but no news channels. AC works well which is must. There is no minibar int he room, but there is a shop adjacent to the pool. The rooms have cabled internet but no wifi. Wifi is available int he lobby and by the pool. The pool is awesome, enough said. The F&B is poor I feel. Breakfast is generally cold and tasteless. Head down the hill to the Dolphin Bar for great food and cold beer. Service is generally pretty good (Owned by the JinJiang hotel group).

Overall I would highly recommend the hotel, rooms are solid, pool is fantastic,location is quiet but a little away from the beach (shuttle available). I have paid RMB 450 per night for cabled wifi and breakfast.

Great View Terrible Service

My title says it all. Can't complain about the view and cleanliness. The problem is the poorly trained Staff. From Wifi in the room (which we already paid for) , broken fridge, umbrella to pretty much every little thing come prepared to argue with the very rude , lying staff. If you are prepared to put in the time fighting with them and to raise your voice to new levels they are very willing to give you what you are supposed to be entitled to. If you are visiting them come prepared to Fight and get lied to. The bell boys even went the extra distance by taunting me.
As long as you don't have to communicate with the staff, your stay will be a pleasant one.
