What People are saying

Decent budget hotel

AvidTraveller71on 10/11/2016 11:05

Hotel with old furniture and decor. Room had no window but in return was quiet.
Hotel located a short walking distance from Italian restaurants, Tapas Bar, Sushi places and Starbucks Cafe in case you need a good Internet connection.

simple, tidy and convenient

It's a very fair hotel. The prices are reasonable, the breakfast is good and the rooms are comfortable. The staff on the reception do not speak English and the TV in the room has no English channels. There is no WiFi but downstairs in the lobby. The internet in the rooms need a cable that does not go into a mac for example. But the rooms are very nice with a window.

GOOD VALUE BUT WITH GREAT HYGIENE ISSUES

After staying at the same chain hotel in Shanghai I thought I'd give a try to the one in Ningbo. Main reason the good price and the fact that having to work I wouldn't really have the time to enjoy the facilities of a better standard hotel.
This hotel is unfortunately not as good as the Shanghai's one mainly for the cleaning standards: some of the walls are damp, there was mold in the shower tiles and there was a locked "cabinet" on the side of the bed from which came a weird noise (no idea on what that could be but it didn't feel right). The inside of the main door was filthy with fingerprints standing out from the greasy surface. The room itself was very spacious, bed sheets clean and pillows very comfortable. The disposition of some of the furniture not correct. You had to climb on the bed to switch on the aircon, or move out a big armchair to reach it. There was a mosquito repellent electric device and I wondered about that until I got bitten by a mosquito. If the hotel would have provided me with the refill to actually use the device, it would have actually served the purpose. Do they think you come with the "Vape" tablets in your bag, or you are supposed to get out and buy some when you check in at 11 p.m.? Weird.
I thought I'd check out the breakfast. I wasn't expecting much considering the price at 15 RMB and actually I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it was richer than the Shanghai branch's one. Scrambled eggs with pickled vegetables, congee, dumplings, hard boiled eggs, water melon, the same infamous yogurt that you need to drink out of a straw as in Shanghai and the hot orange juice (I am amazed they still haven't worked out how to use the machine properly), coffee, Chinese tea and a cream cake. Enough to get by if you do not have great expectations but then again we found a hair in one of the dumplings and that is JUST NOT ON!
The staff has been helpful and very friendly. The English level much higher than the branch in Shanghai and that was a relief. You can also borrow an umbrella leaving a deposit and in this branch you have hair dryers in the rooms. The location doesn't seem to be the best for me, even though I don't know the City that well. We got back to the hotel pretty late at night so we went both night to the same place for dinner, a nearby pub called "ELSA", the owner is lovely, the place very tiny with a few chairs, a bar and a pool table but we had a nice pizza ordered from the nearby pizza place. It was good.
Coming back to the hotel HYGIENE here is the main issue. Management should make a big effort to improve especially when the hotel is classified as a 4 stars.
I would recommend it for the price but DO NOT have breakfast there!
