Run down budget hotel in need of tidy up.
Staff were nice but had limited English.
Linen was stained and towels were thread-bare.
Two lifts one of which didn’t work half the time we were there.
Small restaurant with very limited selection for breakfast.
Guest laundry consists of one washing machine.
Worst was the treatment by the owner.
When we went to extend our stay we were told by a female staff member that it would cost us 400 Yuan for the next two nights. When we went to pay the next morning we were told that the cost was 540 Yuan. We told the owner that the staff member had told us that the cost would be 400 Yuan the day before so he agreed to this. We later learned through our friend who spoke Chinese that he accepted 400 Yuan as a bond, but still intended to charge us the full 540 Yuan.
We had only intended to extend our stay due to the inconvenience of moving. Once we discovered this and believed it to be dishonest we moved to the Holiday Inn Express Minzuyuan just up the road. This is a much nicer hotel at a similar cost (booking through WOTIF.com).
