Stayed in Johnstown Estate for the August Bank holiday. The hotel was very family friendly. Great atmosphere and the staff were very helpful especially Gillian and Sharon. Food was delicious and the pool area was very clean. Would highly recommend it!

Great food, huge portions, fab staff.

We only came by for a late lunch yesterday so I cannot comment on the accommodation side of things. We were really impressed, not only was the food very tasty and the portions massive but it was good value too. The jewel on the crown was the staff, there was a waiter and waitress working around 4ish yesterday and they were the nicest friendliest I have come across in a long time, other establishments really should take note. After our hearty feed we went for a wander around the premises , the restaurant , spa and communal areas were all very inviting. We spotted some excellent spa deals and we both said it would be well worth making the trip up from Cork to try it out. Will def call again if not to stay then definitely for food and spa

Overnight break

Our room was one of the older rooms, not recently re-furbished but still nicely decorated and well kept. The room and bathroom were spotless.

We ate dinner in Fire & Salt restaurant. Every course was a delicious as the previous one. We both had the tomato and basil soup and steak. We both tried different deserts. I had a passion fruit cheesecake and my other half had lemon and lime tart with mini meringues. Absolutely to die for. Our waitress Agatha could not have been anymore helpful and was a pleasure to speak with during our meal.

We used the Spa the following day followed by Afternoon Tea (August offer - worth doing!) The lovely young girl on the reception desk was very pleasant and helpful.

Our treatments were great and the Afternoon Tea was delicious. Overall a great overnight break.

Great staff make this a gem

Beautifully presented, modernised country house with comfortable rooms, cold beer and excellent food.

We (9 of us) stayed here to celebrate a dual birthday and while the hotel is lovely and very well presented, its the staff that make this place so good.

Nothing was too much trouble for them, we were never waiting long to be served and even when we were sat in the snug part of the bar, someone would always stick their head in to make sure we were OK for drinks etc.

We had 2 children with us (4 & 8) and the location meant it was only a short drive to Base in Celbridge which kept them entertained while the girls made full use of the spa (which I'm told was very good, I don't know myself, I was busy having my @rse handed to me in bowling by a 70 year old who "hadn't bowled in years!" )

We're attending a wedding here in September and we're looking forward to being back in Johnstown.
