Is This Place For Real?

Alexandra_Brookon 22/06/2017 16:07

What to say about this establishment... Positives: The guy at the front desk was friendly and parking was free. Negatives: Everything else! This place was one of the only places offered to stay over night near Wantagh so we said what the heck, how bad can it be? Thankfully we were only here one night because I would not have stayed another. The hotel itself was gross and smelt really bad. The carpet in the hallway and on the stairs was stained, ripped up and disgusting. The stairs themselves were very dangerous, and broken in some places. The lobby was weird and outdated, and also looked pretty dirty. The front desk gentleman brought us up to our room and unlocked it for us. I was alarmed at how paper thin the walls were, how the door didn't even fit to the frame and how gross the room was. Sure it seemed clean, but the place itself had a dirty vibe to it, which made everything else seem gross. The bed was old and uncomfortable, the tv was small and hung in a weird place. A huge mirror hung over the burrow, which was very creepy. The bathroom was okay, but it was tiny. I know hate is a strong word, but I borderline hated this place. I couldn't wait to check out!

At home

When I'm at Jones Beach Hotel I always feel at home with the hospitality and warmth by staff and management . I'm a frequent visitor there and the Restaurant there has a nice cozy atmosphere among the vast variety of food and drinks at the bar .

Good Value

It is really hard to find inexpensive places to stay on Long Island so this hotel is a great find. It looks like the owners are rehabbing the place, but slowly. The common areas such as the hallways are really shabby, but some of the rooms have been completely renovated and are very sweet (and clean!). The heating system is very robust, so you may want to turn off the radiator and open the window. Also, the walls are quite thin, so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

The owner's mother runs the popular restaurant on the ground floor and it is a nice place to eat after a long drive. It is overpriced but there is a special $30 three course meal that it reasonable plus there is a discount for staying at the hotel. Stick to simple dishes and avoid the risotto which bore a strong resemblance to overlooked Minute Rice.

Banquet Meal Service Leaves Alot to be Desired

David Fon 10/10/2016 17:13

Went to a banquet meal for about 50 people. Sat at a table that was always served last and some food was cold. The warm food was ok but hard to get water refills. Noise from their club next door was coming into the room and making it hard to talk.
