The good. Bed excellent.

The not so good.
Very, very limited English spoken - if not for my Chinese customer it would have been at best difficult to check in or out.

No restaurant. Not a problem since plenty of local Chinese (only) nearby.

6th floor breakfast 'cafe' only tepid Chinese food with limited choice. No hot drinks (nor cold that I could find). I don't eat carbs so the noodles, dumplings, bread and pasta(?) off the menu. That left boiled eggs and white sausages. Tried to ask for drinks - not understood.

Room was tatty round the edges but bearable but the TV and associated electrical adaptors looked very iffy and were intermittent - one touch TV goes off with an electrical crackle.

Bathroom dimly lit with a very average shower.

Sound insulation from adjacent rooms and corridor non existent. Loud alarm going off at 05:25 not appreciated with another five minutes later.

If you have to stay take alarm clock and coffee filter cups if you want early coffee, same applies to tea, English or Green.

Internet was usable. Just. If you can bear the Chinese blocked sites. Couldn't log in WiFi had to use cable (supplied).

Laundry was nearly lost. Laundry sheet states returned by 19:00 if collected before 10:00. Was available before 08:00 and attempted to inform Reception but they could not understand 'Laundry'. Laundry didn't arrive and I checked out next morning. Luckily my flight was late so customer kindly collected for hotel later that day.

Mosquito Sweaty Hotel

We stayed in this hotel in May of 2015. The weather was 95% humidity and hot. Our room had no AC, and the front desk said they won't have AC because its too early in the season to turn it on. The furniture in the room was well worn, towel rack bent, water leaked out of the shower door every use and flooded the bathroom in front of the toilet. Wifi signal was weak and very slow. Lobby was full of mosquitos.

Good outweighs the bad

Stayed here for a week on business. The bad: awful reception both decor and service; no English spoken; rooms a bit worn.
The good: price £230 for 6 nights, room clean and airy, great location bang next to Honhkou Plaza Mall, which has about 50 restaurants in it some smashers. Also bang next to the Metro line and only 4 stops from People's Square. Despite the bass I'd definitely return and use for a family trip due to price and location.

Noisy and rather run-down

The rooms were reasonably clean, decent in size and provided 3-star levels of comfort but had signs of aging (e.g. the wallpapers are peeling). The location is also rather convenient, with a shopping centre opposite that provided enough dining options. Within walking distance to nearby food shops too.

However, I would not recommend staying here: the location of the hotel is along a busy traffic junction, with the noise of Shanghai traffic starting as early as 6am in the morning and lasting until 1am. Also, Another complaint is the breakfast, which was APPALING with absolutely no variety and very bland!

Terrible is a wrong word for this one .Never again!

I had a very bad experience at JoyFull International by Stadium in Shanghai… In my room , which was dirty like none I've seen so far with some life going on the wall of the corridor and inside of bathroom. Breakfast was not eatable…. Never again. Even trying to find any possitive I found only one "Probably I will never be again in this location"… It was advertised as 4 * but doesn't deserv even 1*. Very expensive for this kind of facility.
