Very comfortable, though street is loud on the weekend

The room was very comfortable and the bed was great. We had the Judges Room and it looked out over the courtyard. That wasn't a problem as the bar closed at 11 and it was quiet very soon after, but the street was very loud Saturday night. Sunday was like a whole different place and we had no trouble sleeping. They supply earplugs and sleeping masks if you need them. There is no A/C here so would be hot in summer and we did have to have the window open to sleep. Breakfast was very good and staff were very friendly. Be forewarned that there is no elevator. Location is great.

Convenient and relaxing

As a group of 6 (3 couples), we stayed at the Judges Lodgings for 4 nights. The hotel was clean and the staff most helpful throughout our stay. We booked B&B taking evening meals at other local restaurants using our coupons found online. Food is available all day and in the evening the hotel is open to none residents for food. looking at the meals provided I would say the food was of a good standard as was the breakfast.

Our rooms were all together and part of a newly refurbished chalet, they were done to a very good standard photo attached. People can sit outside these units to drink but this did not cause us any concerns during our stay. Above the rooms is a sun terrace which was nice to sit on for an afternoon tea/drink.

We would return to the hotel in the evening for a drink and there was always room for us to sit together, the atmosphere was lively but you could find a corner if you wanted.

This hotel is a short walk from the station and is a very good location for walking into York being just 5 min from the shambles and other interesting sites.

The housekeeping is very good they even managed to find a charger we had left behind and return it to us before we left.

I would recommend this hotel to you and would stay there again when in York.

We met up with some friends here, particularly as it is dog friendly! Lovely ambience, staff extremely friendly and efficient. Food was very good too. We've been many times in the past - it is one of our favourites.

When we entered we were immediately made to feel welcome by the staff who were friendly and welcoming. We were eating here with friends and the service was excellent, the food very good, well presented and reasonably priced. Unusually, none of us could think of anything to criticise and we all agreed that we would pay a return visit.

Great Hotel

My sister and I stayed here after walking out of another hotel which we had booked. We asked Holly if there were any rooms available and there were. The hotel is warm, charming and the beds are so comfortable and all the staff are lovely. We ate downstairs in the restaurant and the food is excellent. I will definitely come back to this hotel again
