What People are saying

Needs upgrading in many ways

In my capacity as a registered tourist guide and tour manager I stay here every year, not my hotel choice, with a large group of visitors. Check in can be haphazard depending on how busy they are at reception desk. Room keys are usually ready,. The rooms are beginning to look a little tired and the bedbase in my room looked like it was thrown together. Saying that the bed was very comfortable.Te outlook is grim onto a Glasgow Street. The room was an accessible room and the en-suite bathroom had a number of cracked tiles. We ordered room service. The soup was a mistake. The bowl arrived half empty because it had spilled out all over the little packets of butter which had then turned to liquid so could be poured onto the bread. The mushroom soup was like dishwasher, pretty revolting. There are only 3 elevators for a 1108 room hotel and it was awful in the morning with queues. I dread what would happen if everyone had to evacuate the building in an emergency. I eventually had to hobble down 2 flights of stairs with an arm crutch as we had to leave at a designated time and I could not wait on an elevator. Breakfast is buffet style at different serving areas and is just chaotic. There are no trays so you have to make many trips to get all you require for breakfast, including cutlery. No tea or coffee pots just cups with teabags and a hot water tank,The toast making conveyor belt is a joke for such a large hotel. Breakfast is awful with many people, all nationalities wanting food at the same time. This is not a great hotel at all and in not a very pleasant location. Avoid if you can.

Dissapointed

I must say the room was clean and beds really comfortable. Unfortunately I could not sleep well there because our room was with the view of the train station and I could hear train noises all the time. I can not say that there were friendly staff either apart from the breakfast lady and one of the evening waitresess they were very helpful and just awsome. And if there is anyone who is thinking having a dinner there, do not do that! The food was awful - burned salmon, cold mush potatoes, over cooked pasta with tomato water and over salted basa fillet.

Nice Hotel

I stayed there one night and was pleasantly surprised. Check in was painless and the reception staff were very nice and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the room nice and clean with plenty of bath towels, tea and coffee.

The breakfast was plentiful and varied. There were lots of Americans and Chinese guests so there was a lot of banter going on.

All in all a nice hotel and although I normally stay at The Marriott this is an alternative I will use again.

A very good all round Hotel, with good service, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Within walking distance of shops, train station Merchant City, restaurants. Good location (bus from Airport). Well recommended.
