We arrived at This magnificent resort which it is. We are on a luxury escape package. Our advice is read the fine print which is not exactly what u get. It states breakfast ,lunch and three course dinner. The dinner is not a' la carte it is set options for you to chose. We telephoned twice prior to booking to verify the dining options because we did not want to attend buffets every night and at no stage did they tell us it was a limited set menu. The breakfast is fantastic. The lunch options good only dinner is disappointing. We made an appointment to see the food and beverage manager and he did not turn up and no apology. Khao Lak is 1.5 hours from airport and a shuttle is available to take you to town. The spa offers again are 45 minutes but only four on offer. Two massage types and one foot reflexology and One Indian head massage. To upgrade to other treatments proved expensive. Staff are very good but language barrier can be a problem at reception.

The resort is remote but very beautiful. If in doubt on any of the offers phone and check and get an email confirmation.

Package holiday resort

Booked 5 nights in the delux pool access room after doing lots of research on where to stay. The lobby and hotel grounds are beautiful. The staff were good and always helpful.

The room was underwhelming and nothing out of the ordinary. Food in the hotel was average at best, however was also expensive and not as good as local restaurants in the area. Breakfast was crowded and needed to wait to be seated, while also was loud and dysfunctional. Lots of options avalible but lacked quality due to the masses of people around.

We ended up leaving the hotel 2 days early after deciding that this place was just not for us. While overall it is nice, it is focused on catering to families with kids and package holiday makers... Not at all a luxury feel that is portrayed in the reviews or what you come to expect from a JW Marriot.

Not recommended for younger couples looking for time to relax. However if you are looking for an all-inclusive 2 week sunshine package holiday at a resort, im sure you will find one here.

Also, the rain is pretty relentless during this season.

Inexpensive and exquisite

Hotel is about about an hour drive north of the airport in Phuket. It is beautiful drive for about the first half of the drive. Most of the drive is next to the ocean and it is wonderful. Nearby is a state park (hour drive east) and the mountains and jungle is incredible. There are treking tours, white water rafting and the scenery is unbelievable. Hotel sits on a lovely beach and the walk in either direction was great. The sunset was a post card!
We ate the buffet breakfast and it was wonderful. Lots of choices and the food quality was over the top. We ate at the local places for Thai food and it was fantastic. Thai massage was cheap and great. There is a main road that is about a mile from the hotel where we found the local places to eat and get a massage.
We were there in the off season and caught a special so the room and the food was a little bit more than $100 per night...very inexpensive for a J.W. The room was one of the smaller rooms of the trip but was adequate.

One of its kind experience!

We wanted to experience Phuket and we wanted to stay away from the touristic buz. We chose to go to Khao Lak, 90 minutes away from the Airport. We did a lot of research online and booked direct with the hotel, the Return to Paradise Package which included daily breakfast buffet, lunch dinner and total of 8 spas. We arranged the hotel to pick us up from the Airport, the vehicle was very comfy, waiting for us promptly on arrival. we arrived in the mid night, so it took us little over 60 minutes to reach the hotel. The check-in was very swift, great smiles. The first impression of the room was very peaceful. From the morning next day, we started to feel we were really in the laps of paradise. The amazing swimming pool goes around the hotels with cute little bridges everywhere, our little boy enjoyed the pool always, The pool area near the beach is breathtaking, its classy to swim with the views of the sea. The breakfast is truly excellent, plenty of choice, great balance of western, Thai and other selections, including good choice for babies. The juice bar is excellent which is part of the brekky, the Khoa Lak Booster was our favourite. The lunches were great, some of the best Thai Green curries ever..we bumped into the Chef Mohan, one of the most lovely personalities. Its amazing how this property has variety of restaurants we deicded to have an Italin Buffet at the Olives, one of the best Italian buffets we have ever had..the choice, quality and service was second to none. We also sat at the Kebab night by the beach, superb food and the experience in the backdrop of sunset was special. We tried the Thai restaurant in the hotel twice..you get the most special welcome when you walk in here and the food doesn't let you leave the place. The last day of our trip we had a 10pm flight to catch, but we took the risk of leaving the hotel late, because the awesome Thai buffet was on, it was worth the risk...the food was best and the deserts including the Mango sticky rice was very good. If you're seeking the best of times by the beach, wanting to fancy some of the best tailormade cocktails, this hotel is the best, i had tried the largest variety of cocktails ever on a holiday, my favourite was the Hugo Spiritz at the Italian buffet. The bar by the beach was perfect to sit and enjoy some quite moments. The bar by the pool serves great snacks as well...the massages were great..the spa has very good settings, peaceful and quite, The ginger tea after the spa is a perfect ending for each treatment. its amazing to see how every aspect of this place is managed so well. the staff greet you with smiles genuinely all the time. Our little boy spent a lot of time in the indoor play room, he loved the slide in the ballpit. it was raining in the first two days, but the rest of the 6 days were gorgeous with perfect blue sky and the sea was best in the morning hours. We also tried the massages outside the hotel right on the beach, they were equally good and about 300 THB per hour, we thought that was great value. We did a elephant safari arranged by the hotel, it was a nice experience, especially for the baby, the other elephant sanctuary which is well known for responsible tourism was expensive and in the range of $ 400 per visit which we skipped. we also visited a local turtle farm run by the Navy. The bathroom in the room is very nice and spacious, the room was comfy. Free Wi-Fi which was truly fast. There is a taxi counter outside the hotel by the beach, we decided to book our return airport transfer with them which cost us 1500 THB which otherwise would cost us 2400 THB if we did it with the hotel. The return transfer was prompt, quality and friendly driver who took us to the airport well ahead of time although we left the hotel a bit late. The house keeping team did a brilliant job,the lady who was looking after our room area (3114) worked really sincerely. overall fantastic holiday, perfect destination where everything works smooth and as time/days go by you feel like you have found a second home for your holidays. The people and food make it one of its kind destinations for a well deserved holiday. My only comments for improvements would be, the hotel must improve communication with the customer prior to check-in, the hotel can look at using local suppliers and charge less for airport transfers, the baby play room can warrant a small investment with some exciting new toys.

Good hotel,bad service

Check in wasnt fast, considered take quite sometimes. Give us block 3 level 2,which has some minor renovation (so we need to go down to level 1 from lobby which located at level 2,walk to block 3 and take staircase again to level 2 to be able to access our room from the lobby). Had bad experience today, tried to access our rooms and both access keys wasnt able to open it. A room service kind enough to help us to call (someone, which we dont know who he was calling to),and asked us to wait 5min, and the great thing start to happen,we waited for about 20min,and the room service came to us again, ask the same question, and did the same thing again and asked us to wait for 5 min (dejavu). We decided to walk ourselves to lobby (remember down up down access),the person there told us to came by ourselves to lobby in order for us to reset the card. A bit confusing here,1 guy telling us to wait in front of our room, the other lobby guy told us to come by ourselves....is there any SOP in this hotel?

Actually this is the 2nd time for us to stay here, first time was a great experience, check in everything much better than our 2nd time.

We still have another 2 nights to stay here....not really a great experience in khaolak this time...
