Very Unexpected Anniversary Stay

My Wife and I were looking to get away for our 27th wedding anniversary but our favorite hotel in Republic was full. The owner of the hotel graciously called K-Diamond-K for us as a substitute. We were delightfully surprised. From the immediate wooded and mountainous environment surrounding the large lodge-complex to the CM Russell and Frederick Remington prints and dazzling array of Western iconographia, the place is plush with that Old West Feel - not overdone but as authentic real as an operational ranch in Eastern Washington should be. And to the glee of this Texas Boy, there were even current issues of 'True West' in the rooms. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed with private baths. Sturdy but comfortable Pine furniture in the white abounded throughout. There was no TV and the Internet is sparse but we didn't miss it at all. And there's a bar. What a Great Getaway Retreat. We'll go again
Unique All-Inclusive Family Adventure!

On a whim, we decided to book a guest ranch holiday at K Diamond K, and we weren't disappointed.
The staff are friendly, accommodating and truly invested in making sure guests have a positive experience.
The food was fantastic...freshly prepared and delicious. If I was to give some feedback it would be about the variety: taco salad for lunch all 2 out of 3 days) and quantity: a couple of times certain items ran out before all guests could through the line (tortilla shell bowls one day, and bacon at breakfast another day). There was a well stocked bar, but we never saw an employee behind the counter, there was no price list, and we were never offered a drink so we are still not sure how that works into the all-inclusive plan. Maybe it's just for private events? Fortunately, there were pitchers of lemonade, iced tea, and water available 24/7 which our kid loved.
Activities were endless. Our kids learned how to milk a cow, got to bottle feed an orphan fawn, feed piglets, play with kittens, round up horses, shoot clay pigeons with a 22, campfires, and of course lots of riding. Other options were fishing, tubing down the river, basketball, tennis, archery, and trampolines.
Every morning we took part in a trail ride though the beautiful property. The rides ranged from 2-4 hours on well-trained horses. Although my son had never ridden, he was very comfortable on his horse Kacey. The wranglers who led our rides were very knowledgeable and accommodating, as well as fun and friendly.
The rooms are basic but very comfortable. Comfy pillows and mattresses, clean towels and soap and shampoo supplied. The lodge is air conditioned so we were able to sleep well.
We only stayed for 3 nights due to the high cost. This vacation would be more accessible to families if the price for additional children was less. Our friends who have five children were not able to join us because of the total household cost ($179x7=$1253 per night). On the other hand, a girlfriend trip, where each person pays their own way is much more cost effective, as the nightly fee is similar to a regular hotel. To summarize, the fee structure is much more advantageous for singles than for families. Although we had an amazing time, we would not do this holiday annually as a family due to the price ($2100 plus taxes for 3 nights). It's more of a once in a lifetime trip for those with a holiday budget :)
A final note: the K Diamond K Ranch was an incredible experience that we will not forget. I highly recommend it!
Could have stayed longer

Myself and 7 work colleagues stayed on this ranch just for a couple of nights and had a great time. We all wished we could have stayed a bit longer!
We drove a very scenic 6 hrs or so from Seattle (having flown in from UK) and were warmly welcomed to a huge wooden lodge house. Everything was timber and lots of attention to detail. The rooms were spacious clean and comfortable with lovely views.
There's something for everyone whether you want to sit and read by the fire, play musical instruments, play pool, fusball, go in the hot tub, chat at the bar, you do as you please.
During the day, again lots of choice. If you want to get stuck in and help for the full ranch experience you can. Feed the pigs, milk the cow, play with the kittens, up to you. One of my highlights was rounding up the horses. There's a lot of horses and they have a lot of space to roam! So an exhilarating buggy ride through the woods and fields was great fun until all 40 or so horses were back at the ranch. A beautiful ride stopping for lunch by a camp fire by the pond. And you don't need to have ridden a horse before either!
Day 2 was a mix of more riding, and also lasso training, gun shooting and archery. Or you can hike, bike ride, kayak or fish! The food is really great too!
Kathy and the team did everything to make our stay a great experience. Many thanks and best wishes to Kathy and her family.

Our group of 8 had a fabulous time at K Diamond K Ranch. The rooms were big and very comfortable. Kathy and her crew took great care of us. We brought three horses, rode the ranch horses, and one of us didn’t ride at all. There was plenty for everyone to do - we milked the cow and fed the pigs, collected eggs, enjoyed the hot tub, hiked and fished and shot skeet! the food was plentiful and delicious. I was a little nervous about riding, but I felt totally safe rounding up cattle and trail riding. We even had a blast on the quad rounding up the horses. And of course margaritas, the fire and s’mores each night were a treat. We felt very close to Kathy, who could not have done more to make us feel at home. Thank you K Diamond K! My only complaint is that you are so far from SC. Best wishes to you and your family, Kathy.

The 8 of us just returned from a wonderful 5 day stay at the lodge. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I don't understand the reason for Daya K ' bad review.I am a bit of a clean freak and would not have stayed there if it was dirty or smelly. Everybody is so friendly and courteous. We enjoyed way too much good food. We met other guests and enjoyed spending time with them as well. Some of our ladies brought their own horses and Kathy had pens ready for us.. There is a petting zoo with every kind of barnyard animal! Llamas , alpacs, mini donkey, longhorn cattle roam the grounds. We milked a cow and gathered eggs. The horses are very gentle and fun to ride. We took fly fishing lessons and even caught fish in the creek that runs through the property. We had a picnic and enjoyed the high mountain pond and watched horses feeding in the grass along the edge of the pond. The animals are very well cared for and treated like a member of the family. Before we left, we booked our trip for next year, we plan on staying longer next year ! I would recommend this ranch to any person or family for a fantastic trip
