What People are saying

good vacation

Pricope Ion 01/11/2016 11:31

Very nice place, good food and a big pool. Everything was all right. Rooms are big and every room has balcony. The towels were changed everyday. People were very kind and they give us useful information.

A very nice hotel

A small and cozy hotel with a very nice garden and pool. The room was big and clean with a flat tv , fridge and seif .The room also had a very spacious balcony with a clothes drying rack that i liked:)
Breakfast was very good (variety of food , tees, good coffee).

Nice hotel

Stayed at this hotel few times. It is a nice hotel, good food, nice and clean rooms, very polite staff. The pool is also very good. Unfortunately the beach is a bit far and particularly this beach is not so good, so you have to travel to next beaches in the area.

One of the best places to stay in Halkidiki

We had to choose between a 4 star hotel and Kalives Resort (currently at 3 stars). We took the decision to stay with KR (and I am being honest about it) to get more money to spend on the Greek delicious food, olives, oil and any other traditional products. This hotel is definitely above the 3-star mark with a great value for money.

Let's start with the room: well suited for a family (me and my wife). The room was simply done, had the exact furniture you needed, was clean all the time. Some will argue it needs to be bigger, but you are not going to Greece to spend the whole day at the hotel. Furniture looks lightly worn and the bathroom will need an upgrade at some point, but in terms of usability, ergonomics and cleanliness, we gave them a 10/10. Small balcony allows for a nice glass of wine in the evening and small talks.

Next, the staff: 20/10. The people working there are simply awesome (Nickos, Stella, Lilia, Miltos and co.). They are really proud of what they are doing and always caring for the guests, helping us whenever the case was.

Breakfast: plenty of food, cold and hot, plenty of beverages, very good quality. We loved the tomatoes with cheese and oregano done in the oven, the pies, the tea boxes with a lot of tea choices and the home made jams and sweets.

Other things: The pool is super nice and kids friendly. The beach is close (5 mins walk) and indeed you have to cross a busy street but that is not a big issue. There are definitely better beaches and we recommend (especially when you go there by car): Nikiti, Armenistis, Karydi, Kastri, Porto Koufo.

We will definitely be back next year. Enjoy!

Vacation

This is really the best definition of the value hotel. It is said that it's 3 star, but it should be 4. Rooms are small, but big enough to feel comfortable and clean. The pool and the garden around are beautiful, clean and spacious. The food selection is not like in the big resorts, but the variety is fine and what's most important...it is very well prepared, fresh and tasteful. They offer wifi for free, and most of the times the signal is pretty descent, which is usually not the case in Greece or Turkey. The beach is close enough, around 400 m by walk and it is really good, sandy one with beds and parasols for free and shower. The closest bar/restaurant makes really good cappuccino. The location is not that good because it's close to a main road and you have to cross it when going to a beach, and you don't have anything to do in Kalives and it's better to stay in resort. This hotel is really good for quiet and romantic vacation for couples and families.

The downside of it all was that we had bad weather, and 3rd day of our vacation our son got some virus and had a fever for 5 days. We couldn't go out and only went out to go to hospital. While we were unable to go to restaurant together, we asked for some food to be taken to a room for our son. It seemed that staff didn't like it and despite they took food couple of times to our room, it was always with a grumpy face or a fake smile. We have asked for big cups of tea, but it was always a problem to get it like we choose to be ill on holiday. Instead of showing some empathy for sick child, they have charged us for small cup of tea 2 euros every time we ordered in between meals and it was A LOT of tea recommended by doctor. No soop or anything sent by hotel to my son just as showing appreciation. Even my wife had a fever for two days and when I asked to bring food to a room myself (as it was swedish table service), one of the female members of staff asked me is it true that both of them have a fever??? What kind of question is that??? Do they think we fake illness in order to have dinner in a room instead of nice terrace? It is strange that male members of staff showed more appreciation for my son illness, than female ones. On one of the evening when our son felt a bit better, we went to a dinning room, ordered some drinks and we left really soon, because our son started to vomit without paying for drinks which we didn't manage to touch. I returned later to pay for those, and waiter said that they cleaned the table, and asked me if I choose not to pay for the drinks. I said I will pay for it. If you don't want to charge me as a favor or showing empathy for the situation, don't ask me, just don't charge me. So this was a bad feeling that we had with us when leaving.
