What People are saying

Not bad for a night or two

Steve Pon 23/12/2016 19:02

This hotel has a fantastic German buffet breakfast with more than 10 different sorts of cold meat. Staff friendly, but have little or no English. Rooms basic and dated and location not great. But we enjoyed our stay.

OK for an overnight

redwing2015on 15/11/2016 19:58

Tired room but spotlessly clean. Spartan furnishings and extremely dated. Room to street which was exceptionally noisy. Good breakfast. Nice Balkan restaurant within 200 metres. Price was right at a time when Berlin was hosting annual marathon - elsewhere hiked prices were extortionate!

Far fr center

KaterinaDmiton 15/07/2015 11:36

The hotel located very far from the center of the city.it takes min 40min to come to Zoo.10min by foot to the Sbahn station Spandau and from there by S-Bahn or regional train possible to come to the center. The hotel itself is very decent.the breakfast not so good.the personal speaks German,English and Russian and polite and friendly.the room had small balcony but I didn't use it.there is no AC but there is a van which is very loud.bed is comfortable but the pillow was soooo flat...

Cheap basic lodge in Spandau.

Redcocoon 05/07/2015 16:03

Good basic lodging in Spandau, 400 meters from Station. Here for 2 nights, bed comfy, balcony was handy, ceiling fan didn't work and shower had very high pressure but leaked everywhere. Big fridge in room. Spandau ZItadel is close by. Excellent restaurant called Dalmacija Grill is 5 mins walk.

Nice place to stay before going to the airport

bjsron 26/08/2014 21:09

When on vacation, we consider several factors in choosing a hotel, then rating it afterwards. Reviews by others are very important, and we do our homework. Also considered are location, price, breakfast, hotel communication. Comfort, lighting, bathroom space, water pressure are all things that make a stay or can ruin it. We try and get hotels that have character or a feel for where we are, for the type of trip we are on. In other words, when in Prague, we don't want the Hilton. Exceptions are when we need a place to just sleep while passing thru an area.
In this case, we met our daughter who had been living in Germany as a missionary (she spoke German) and traveling with her before all of us coming home together. Although we frequently use a variety of online sights for reservations, booking.com was the only sight that allowed us to search specifically for a room for 3 adults, eliminating all the double and single rooms and narrowing our search. Although not perfect….we are positive there are options not on the site, it did simplify our search.

This was the last night of our very high paced trip, before we dropped our rental at the airport and headed home. We had driven in from the western boundary/mosele river area and didn’t want to try to find a hotel in the dark in the city. We searched for a long time for something outside, but close to the airport for an early flight (turns out we didn’t need to be there as early as you do in the USA). Most places were very costly, or seemed more like flop houses for groups. This one seemed reasonable with an added breakfast, close location, and west of Berlin. Perfect. It also was very easy to get to the airport on early Sat am streets.
We found the area without any trouble although gps took us on city streets most of the city area. Finding a place to park (out back) was an issue and didn’t seem safe, and we eventually found out we could go ‘inside’ to one of 2 spots left.
Upon arrival I wondered what we had gotten ourselves into. It appeared as if most of the area was lived in, not temporary use. We were greated sweetly at the front desk, all our questions answered, directions given to the local transportation for a last night in Berlin. We discussed what to do about breakfast since we would depart before it was served (8am sat- we could have stayed after all….all we did was wait at the airport 1.5 hours until the flight board said our flight could get in line to check in). The sweet gal offered to go into the kitchen and make us some sandwiches to put into our fridge for the next morning. We just took breads which worked with what we already had with us. We never saw the breakfast situation.
We then went to the ‘back’ building- hauling our luggage back the way we had come, up some very narrow stairs which were very noisy. We wondered how we would get out quietly at 6am….. it reminded me of a dorm hall. otoh, i had asked for a quiet room, and it was, we never heard anything.
The room was a disappointment in most aspects. I would not use it for ‘vacation’ or anything more than going to the airport, thus only sleeping, or ok for young college kids needing a place to flop. It was soooo tiny. Pics posted on Trip Advisor. Balcony? We didn't get one.
Our T/Q room was actually T/T/T. We managed to fit our luggage on tables, chairs, and the only walkway. We slept fine, so the beds were comfortable enough, and the room was clean.
The bathroom was tricky. There was barely enough room for 1 person to move around. It was the 2nd time I had seen this shower configuration but it was smaller than the last. Small opening (if someone is of larger stature- I am not) Elbows hit the walls when washing hair, unless standing diagonal. The bathroom door missed the toilet by a hair, no more.
Standing at the sink was again very narrow. No space for elbows while using hairdryer and the cord was too short to back up to the open space.
I add another negative because I cannot see without my glasses so access to a mirror I can get close to is crucial. I squeezed my today up against the sink the best I could. We did have other tiny bathrooms on our travels, a few similar, but this was the teeniest. Then again, it did have better lighting than many of the others. Shower felt fine, no issues.
The train/bus route to Berlin took longer than expected. About an hour from hotel. We got back faster. The main building was locked up at night (we were warned) so we walked thru the back entrance where we had originally parked to get in. Felt safe walking to the train. All in all, it was fine for our needs, but I wouldn’t want to spend more than a night or time in the room.
