Amazing!
on 21/06/2017 15:57What a find! Thank goodness all of the chain hotels were booked up and we were forced to think out-of-the-box. My only regret is that we didn't know of this place sooner and this is our last trip to the area. We stayed in the 2 bedroom Driftwood Kottage. It was SO cozy and beautifully decorated. No detail is spared. Honestly, we will be sad to leave. Kara makes the stay so homey: the fridge is loaded for breakfast, tons of supplies, and just a welcome, high-end, help-yourself feel to everything. Even the outside space is lovely: nice landscaping inside a private patio with a grill and relaxing furniture. And all of this cost quite a bit less than the two rooms we would have booked at a sterile, cookie-cutter chain. The only thing to be aware of if you book this particular apartment is that the entry steps are quite steep...think Amsterdam. So if you have a big dog or a walking problem, you should request a different apartment.
Beautiful hospitality, best stay ever!
losarboleson 03/06/2017 17:32Kara does a fabulous job of setting the stage for a restful beautiful stay. Every detail is thought of from Breakfast fixings to available beverages. It is such a treat staying at her Kottages. I have stayed there twice in the past month. Every unit is spotless, unique and beautifully decorated. I felt like I was welcomed and at home. Loved it! The combined best aspects of a 5 star boutique hotel and a great well appointed vacation home. I look forward to staying there again.
Great stay!
emegs24on 08/04/2017 17:06We had a great stay at Kara's Cottage. The cottage was spacious with 2 big bedrooms. Kara was easy to communicate with a quick to respond to any issues we had. The kitchen was well stocked with all utensils you need. Bathroom was big with two sinks. Only downside was that there was no desk and no door between the living room and kitchen.
Cosy Home
getawayplanson 16/03/2017 23:22We spent two nights in the Birch Bark suite. We all commented on the personal touches that made the place feel so cozy. Fantastic beds and bedding. Very clean and also loved the notes throughout the space (fans/recycling/thermostat), very well thought out. We all wanted to stay longer. Location is central to Kalamazoo, but we used Uber because of the temperatures (which was inexpensive and convenient).
Love Redwood Kottage
Mark Hon 15/03/2017 02:00We stayed at this newer of Kara's Kottages in March. It's a short walk to K College, and we will stay here again when visiting our daughter. SO much nicer and roomier than a hotel of the same price. A large living room, with a sectional and chairs and an electric fireplace and tv. BIG kitchen, with full size fridge, stove, dishwasher, and kitchen table. Cute bathroom, and comfy bed in the bedroom. Little touches add to the charm -- a stocked fridge for breakfast, even beer mugs in the freezer for a chilled beer. If you are staying longer, there is a full washer and drier. Kara was super easy and flexible to work with.
