Steeped in history
KentTorontoon 28/03/2017 14:35We stayed here Jan 27 to Feb 2, 2017 and what a great find it was. The staff were all great, the hotel was very clean and the food was excellent - we had the half board option. The rooms were a good size with an enormous bathroom and beautiful view of Rendl. There are hundreds of World Cup/Alpine trophies and awards throughout the hotel and Karl Shranz was even there most days. Want to give a special call out to Dominic the bar tender - he was always so friendly, upbeat and accomdating after a long day of skiing and epic "apres ski" at Krazy Kanguruh and MooserWirt. The only draw back is it's a bit of a walk from the village centre - but that made it very quiet so maybe that was a good thing. I would definitely recommend Hotel Karl Shranz.
Great place for skiing holiday
on 25/02/2017 21:21We are already looking forward to get back, really great staff (special thanks to Stefan),nice owners, great service, shuttle to the ski lifts, good food and nice and clean evrywear. Cozy bar with fireplace and great wellness area with panoramic view from the Finnish sauna. One tip, a jacuzzi in the wellnes area - would make the wellness area perfect:-)
An excellent choice of hotel!
richard_kershawon 16/02/2017 12:26We booked a weeks skiing in StAnton for my wifes birthday and chose the Karl Schranz based on a number of things, in particular the spa for the girls.
The staff were very friendly and attentive in the dining room and the meals were excellent with six courses available evey night and a choice of main.
The rooms were spacious and cleaned regularly as expected.
The spa are was very good with sauna and steam rooms - Apparently you have to go naked but we didn't. Some people do though so take some eye bleach...
Pool was chilly but very clean.
Regular shuttle bus to the ski area and the driver was spot on, even waiting for us to change out of ski wear to ferry us back down again - Cracking chap!
Overall I'm happy with the five stars I've given and would highly reccomend.
Superb
ann kon 12/02/2017 16:03Just returned home after a brilliant week at Karl Schranz hotel in St Anton. The staff were outstanding and couldn't do enough for our stay.our double room was very spacious with excellent views over Rendel.
Breakfast offered a good selection of fresh fruits, numerous breads and hot selection as well as cold meats and cheese. Dinner menu was very varied, always well presented and cooked. Stephan always had a happy smilie face, forever eager to please. The only criticism we had was the lack of tap water at dinner, I have read other criticisms concerning this issue and do understand, however, tap water was served at breakfast so why not at dinner. Overall though I would definitely recommend this hotel. Well done.
A cut above the rest!
frithsokenon 08/02/2017 22:06A wonderful welcome awaited us despite our very early arrival and as we finished breakfast they announced our rooms had been cleaned and were ready for us, which was a real bonus!
Our room and en-suite were clean, spacious with lovely duvets. The only downside was the heat, despite turning all the radiators off and opening all the windows we struggled to sleep, but perhaps we are used to colder rooms, living in the UK.
The evening meal was superbly presented and delicious. The portion sizes were individually small but we never left the table hungry; after six courses I cannot imagine anyone would be!
We were a little nervous about being slightly outside the main part of the town but the shuttle bus service was excellent and even when we stayed later; enjoying the apres-ski, the taxi was only 8 euros.
The staff were lovely, particularly Claudia and the driver of the shuttle bus.
The spa area was beautiful and very well equiped but this Brit could not get her head around why it was necessary, for the sake of hygiene, to be naked to use the sauna and steam room; a rule I must admit to breaking!
The only downside to the experience was not being allowed to have tap water with the meal, (why would you need to buy bottle water in the mountains!), apparently you could only have tap water if you bought a whole bottle of wine which was generally pretty expensive. When we asked fro a gin and tonic and 2 glasses of small wine with our meal we were charged nearly 13 euros for a superior G&T which we had not asked for and large glasses of wine, which was sorted out when we complained but just made us feel a little uncomfortable.
