Sicily in May/June 2017
Tanya Lon 18/06/2017 09:53We were very pleased with the location of this hotel with respect to shops and local town of Giardini-naxos. It is walking distance from a private beach 100 m which did not cost us if you don't hire an umbrella or beach chairs. Equally, it is only 10 min walk from the public beach of Naxos and main drag where tourist shops and restaurants are located.
The hospitality from Gino and Angel was superb. Gino always greeted us every morning to his charming smile and catered to our needs. He went the extra mile to find an iphone charger for us to borrow for the length of our stay.
Transports links was another BIG plus as we could take the local bus for a cheap airport transfer to/from the hotel. In addition, the bus depot had a manned person to purchase fares to Taromina and other places of interest.
There were some areas for improvement, such as an upgrade on the safe in the rooms. They could do with providing an adequate safe storage that works without using a key. Also, the shower facility could be maximized from the tight conditions of the telephone box units. And possibly invest in more tv channels for international guests.
Perfect location
UKTraveller888on 26/09/2015 17:17We stayed at this hotel for the second time, we had late flight when we arrived but Francesco and his family arranged private car transfer from airport with reasonable price. They also provide tour excursions that we can book by the reception. We like the hotel because the location is very good just opposite at the main street where bus stop and tours pick up point. You can buy a day pass for €7.60 from the bus terminal. Pharmacy, mini markets, hairdresser, cafes and restaurants nearby. Large Deco supermarket and Megastore about 20 min walk to Consolare Valeria.
Breakfast was good and lots of choice, especially Italian croissants freshly baked early morning. Lovely stay. We will back next year.
Staff is excellent
Arta Won 24/05/2015 12:40staff was very kind and professional and kindly helped with all our little needs, definetly a big "+". Room was very good price/quality ratio, location of hotel also is very convenient if you need to take a bus to airport.
Well-located, friendly service
Neve97on 13/08/2014 15:02I stayed three nights in an apartment, overkill for a solo traveller for such a short stay but I wanted access to a washing machine. Just as well as I didn't see any laundromats, much less an ATM (bancomat) in the vicinity. The location is great as it's just across the road from the Recanati bus stop. (The buses to Catania stop on the main road at the Renault stop, so-called because it's near a Renault dealership.) The hotel is actually in the Recanati district, not Giardini, so don't tell the bus driver Giardini otherwise you might be dropped off at the wrong place. It's a modern place full of holiday apartments, completely lacking in charm in my opinion but the beach was nice and the area in general quiet (at least in early July). Giardini Naxos proper would probably be charming out of season and has a gorgeous bay with stunning views but is absolutely jam-packed in summer and must be very noisy so if you want affordable, quiet accommodation with lovely staff Kassoipea is the place.
The apartment was exactly what I expected from the photos. Not new but very clean apart from the squashed mosquitoes on the walls. Wi-fi access was only in reception or at the bar. The standard of the appliances probably varies from apartment to apartment but mine had a new washing machine and iron. The bed sagged and I could feel the springs but strangely I slept very well.
The best part is the staff. The family who run it are lovely. They and the receptionist were very helpful in organising a couple of tours for me, one departing from a town other than Giardini. I had an issue with my stove the first morning and had to eat in the restaurant, and when I checked out they waived the payment. They also insisted on driving me and my very heavy bag to the Renault bus stop which was much appreciated.
The hotel operates the Bonday Beach lido and offers a discount to hotel guests.
It's a pleasant walk to the archeological park and on to Giardini and from the bus stop you can easily get buses to Taromina and on from there to Castelmola.
Disappointing..
Torben Son 21/07/2014 10:38We had a family apartment (for 4 adult and two children). It contained one bedroom with a double bed and one living room/kitchen/bedroom. The apartment was very old and in a very bad condition. It was placed in the same building with bars and restaurants. It was very noisy during the whole night. First think we discovered was that the toilet couldn't flush. Had a hard time explaining that it was a problem and we couldn't wait until next day! We had daily something that broke and it was difficult to explain it because the staff spoke a very bad english. Wifi was only at the reception.
It's a mystery for me how the reviews can be that good....
