great but no airco
A don 25/06/2017 01:30Great and nice setting with picture perfect view of lake. We came late had a fabulous dinner along the shore. The room was nice and basic, with no airco. Everything was nice for the night, but they had a vapor for the bugs. Dont understand why not have screens against insects.

carolesE3169LWon 22/06/2017 11:54Beautiful location, very peaceful. Spa was excellent though didn't have any treatments. Room was meant to have a mountain view but it was more the houses opposite - could just see a mountain between the tree branches!.

Big room with balcony, free minibar and coffee machine, good bathroom.
Breakfast was good enough, the best part was to have it on the terrace.
Wifi is pretty decent, good speed and works well.
Bus stop right at the front of the property, and you get a free pass for the buses in Lucerne in the reception. Also you can take the boat trip to Lucerne with a discuont if you buy the tickets in the hotel.
Small swimming pool and access to a tiny beach to swim in the lake are also a plus.
Breakfast could be a bit better, and the minibar could have 2 of each if it's in a "double" room. But everything else was excellent.

We stopped at the Seehotel Kastanienbaum for a late afternoon drink in early September and enjoyed a glass of Rosé from the nearby Ottiger Winery. The hotel/restaurant is located right at the shore of Lake Lucerne, with a beautiful view to the surrounding hills and mountains including the Rigi and Bürgenstock, but in a very peaceful setting away from the bustling tourist city of Lucerne. Excellent service, friendly ambience, interesting and varied dining choices. We were here only for drinks, but had a look at their menu and vowed to one day return to enjoy a meal in these pleasant surroundings. There is parking space right in front of the hotel.
