What People are saying

Quiet Location

AFCB123on 30/08/2016 13:23

We stayed with Kathleen for three nights in the basement room with no natural light or windows. Exceptionally quiet location as Kathleen's is located at the end of a small single lane street.

The room was of a reasonable size and the bathroom was quite roomy. Our room was located in the basement at the bottom of a narrow staircase. I had no issues with the room location. The bed is comfortable and the room heated.

Breakfast is a simple combination of cereals and cooked items in Kathleen's kitchen. Parking can be a problem as the street is exceptionally narrow and parking is therefore at a premium. However I was able to park at the front door of the B&B on each of the three nights.

Gardenstown only has one pub, however there is a tearoom and a restaurant as well. We only ate at the pub which is right next door.

We would return.

Great B&B

I stayed here for 2 weeks while working in the area,it's a great B&B ! Kathleen is great she can't do enough for you . I would definitely stay here again when Im working back up here . There is not much parking but the walk down a fine. If you want you can go walks down to the harbour then onto the beach . There is a shop in the village but it's closed on a Sunday

Very Good

I stayed at Kathleen's B&B a week ago, following a very wet motorcycle ride. My original plan had been to camp' at a nearby beach, but I was soaked and needed somewhere to dry out. I had no reservation, but rode into Gardenstown to see if there was anywhere to stay and stumbled across Kathleen's on Main Street (which is a funny name for such a tiny/narrow street).

Kathleen was wonderful - friendly and welcoming. She led me to my room and made sure that the radiator was on and delivering full power. I soon had my riding gear off and draped over some chairs and my wet clothes draped over the radiators. Everything started to dry out! The radiator went off at around 11pm, and hadn't come back on again by the time I left (8am), but everything was pretty much dry by then anyway, so it wasn't a problem.

The room itself (a twin) was small, but big enough. It wouldn't be somewhere that two people would want to spend a long time but it is big enough to relax. There was a small TV, kettle, cups and complementary coffee and tea. The (shared) bathroom was three or four steps from the room and was roomy with a full-sized bath and 'power shower' that delivered a constant supply of hot water. The WiFi was excellent, and since I couldn't get a phone signal, it was welcome.

Breakfast in the morning was excellent. It's served in a (smallish) kitchen/dining room that could accommodate four people. There was nobody else there as I ate my breakfast at 0730h, which is the earliest slot available.

Overall, I think that Kathleen's is a great little B&B in a beautiful little fishing village. I had no intention of staying there, but I'm glad that I did.

Great Hospitality For Two Tired and Cold Hikers

Mark Jon 31/05/2016 09:14

Kathleen and her B&B were a real sight for sore eyes when we turned up without a booking, tired and cold during our coast-to-coast trek across Scotland. Although she was out when we arrived, Kathleen responded quickly to our phone call to the number in the window and, 10 minutes later, arrived full of smiles.

We were shown to a nice twin bedded room upstairs, with a well-equipped shared bathroom. Unfortunately, being Wednesday, there was nowhere to eat in Gardenstown, but Kathleen said we were welcome to buy food from the local store and eat it in her kitchen.

Breakfast was great; filling and well-prepared by Kathleen as we ate and chatted.

Overall this was exactly the "re-charge" we needed for our final day's hike to Fraserburgh.

Oh, and ask her about her wee gallery of photographs. It's a real hidden gem!

Lovely stay

Beautiful stay with a stunning scenary, looking on the ocean from the terrace of the b&b. Kathleen is a lovely host and everything is clean and nice. Just watchout when booking a room, as there is one with no window.
