THIS PLACE SHOUD BE SHUT DOWN FOR RENOVATIONS
Louise989on 31/10/2017 10:19Our visit was October 2017 and we booked through Malealea Tours. They should be told to actually go and stay in the place and I am sure they would be as disappointed as our party were. In a nutshell THE LODGE IS FALLING APART!!! Ceilings collapsed/ing due to water damage, rivulets of water running down walls and at the fireplace in the lounge...water leaking from pipes outside as well....dining room chairs broken...our friends had to be given another room as the key to theirs was missing and there was no spare...when my husband arrived back from the afternoon dam wall tour and went to ask when the room was going to be serviced he was told they needed to get his key to get in as there was no spare and when he requested soap etc. he was told there was none available in Lesotho????
The tour was fantastic and the dam spectacular and the breakfasts served were very good......the rest is an absolute disaster and NOT worth the money they charge.

The rooms are spacious and linen is of a good quality.
The food is good and you can enjoy fresh trout that they get from the farms on the Katse dam.
Well worth a visit.

mvtouringon 16/09/2017 14:43The lodge has a fantastic view over the dam and is a welcoming site after the long and winding road to get here. Oh did I mention that it is also a very steep road? Unfortunately the lodge needs the guy from Hotel Impossible to spruce this place up. The ceilings in the hallway is collapsing, the carpets are filthy and the bathrooms need updating. The restaurant however is kept spotless and one can enjoy excellent food there
Great value for money in an isolated area
Anita Von 26/08/2017 18:06We stayed in one of the rooms in the dormitory with a shared bathroom on a very cold night. The accommodation is basic and old but super clean. Every room had a heater and the beds are comfortable with crisp white linen and towels plus toiletries. Ideal for a group of people. We had trout almande for dinner and it was delicious. Other people in the group had different dishes but everybody loved their food. Breakfast buffet was a feast with a huge variety. Keep in mind all ingredients except trout has to be trucked in (4 hours' drive). Staff very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return. We stopped at the LHWP information center to take photos of the Katse dam wall. Sadly we did not have time to do the dam wall tour which was offered at a very small fee per person.
The Katse dam makes it worthwhile...
LandyLowe2on 19/07/2017 14:15We booked a 3 and 2 bedroom chalet at the lodge. I was disappointed that we didn't have a view of the dam at all- the chalets are in the little village amongst the employees' accommodation. It was however very clean and comfortable. Take note that the kitchens are not stocked with enough cutlery and crockery for the number of people per house.
The dam and dam-wall makes the entire trip worthwhile! It is absolutely an amazing sight! Make sure that you do the dam-wall tour. Breakfast at the restaurant was also good.
