What People are saying

Wonderful experience midst wilderness

Ananyapalon 13/08/2017 08:12

It was a great experience to stay there for three nights, so close to the nature. Hotel staff were wonderful, the bush dinner was an experience on its own. The masseur in the spa was very friendly and skillful. Food was good, though not great. Replenishment used to be a problem in the buffets, may be because of shortage of staff during peak tourist season. Overall a great experience, would like to go back again.

Convenient to the migration routes and comfortable accomodations

Our third visit to the lodge has measured up to our previous high standards. Comfortable Elegance, friendly staff, convenient location: all made for a memorable visit. One of the only lodges that is not surrounded buy fences, Keekorok is frequently visited buy animals of all sorts. One of the only lodges I know with in-room viewing of Africa's fabulous game. Zebras, Cape buffalo, hippopotamuses, and monkeys, among others, are often sighted on The Lodges grounds. We will return again.

Best safari ever

I booked here as part of a package and although we have only been here for 3 days it feels like much longer which is great. Everyone is so friendly here and full of knowledge. We were in a group of four for our game drives which was brilliant. Such a small group which meant we were all crowding round to get the best pic like I saw other jeeps doing.

The morning game drives were very cold so I would definitely bring Long sleeved tops and a jumper. And a sports bra is a must for the girls! I feel the evening game drives were the best on our first afternoon we saw a heard of elephants, a lioness eating a wildebeest, zebras a group of impalas, and a buffalo. Which was amazing to see.

We also visited the Hippo bar which is located on the far left of the property. Which was amazing we had hippos, zebras, warthog and wildebeests all while we had a drink at the bar. This was an amazing experience in itself.

The food was also better then I expected. I always opted for the freshly cooked meal which was prepared right in front of you.

All in all this was an amazing experience and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Food ruined the otherwise great experience!

Our stay in Keekorok would have been great if it hadn't been for their shocking food variety/quality. We do understand that food is not their main selling point but we do expect at least average quality especially given the prices most people pay.
We've experienced food at other hotels in Maasai Mara and none of them were that bad honestly. It was shocking to the extent that we felt angry and that the hotel management didn't really care given that nearly every review here does complain about that issue which ruins other good things that the hotel has (described below).
Honestly, if the food was just average I would've given this hotel an easy 5-star rating.
Now after my rant above, the hotel's main asset is their staff as they are really helpful and looking to help always. They are always smiling and happy and will do whatever to make you happy. Even when we complained about the food at dinner, one lady was embarrassed and tried to help by offering something else from the kitchen (chicken for example that wasn't even available in the buffet).
Hotel in general was kept in good shape and the surrounding hippo pool really added to the experience. Hippos & zebras would come grazing near the chalets at night which was gr8. Swimming pool doesn't look clean though.
The chalets that we stayed in were clean and looked after every day. We were happy with the room size and the overall condition of the room.
The hotel is also strategically located within the park as it's not so far from the Sekenani gate and the same time close to game drive spots.
My final tip is to avoid this hotel or if you're bringing your own food then go for it.
