We stayed for 1 night as part of our tour of Ireland. The bar is lovely, the spa is fantastic and the food was great for the price too. Rooms were wonderful (we stayed in a double deluxe) and the best part was the service. Really lovely welcome from start to finish. Also, the beds are super comfy. Thank you!
We have just had the most glorious two days in Kilkenny and the Kilkenny Hotel.
We arrived at 2pm and was told by the lovely girl on reception that our room was ready...and what a room! It was so spacious and beautiful and being on the ground floor we even had patio doors which led onto our own terece. When we unpacked we made our way to the pool & spa...this was perfect after a long drive from Belfast.
Town was an easy 15 minutes walk from the Hotel and it was easy to get a taxi back later in the night at a reasonable €8.
When we struggled out of the gloriously comfortable bed in the morning and out of the amazing power shower we headed for breakfast. The breakfast room was lovely and light and we had no problems with queuing, we where there about 9am each morning. Descent selection of cold buffet and cooked Breakfast was served to your table which was a nice treat and was delicious. One point I would make however is that the staff are to quick to take your cooked order meaning that it arrived when we had literally just finished our cereal.
Easily rectified the next morning though when we just delayed ordering for a while.
After a lovely full day in the town we decided to have Dinner in the Hotel bar. The menu was very varied and it took us quite some time to make our mind up but they served until 9.30 so there was no rush and we where entertained by a great singer & guitar player while we decided.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the entertainment was great and a pleasant surprise.
A special thanks to the staff, everyone of them where a credit to the Hotel. They where so friendly and welcoming which put the gloss on a Wonderful stay...we will be back!!
I stayed here for a 3 nights (weekend) at the end of July. This is an ideal hotel to stay when in Kilkenny you are in the town but enough distance from the "centre" of hustle and bustle - it is walking distance from the centre (shops/restaurants/pubs etc). Eventhough in the town it is in an ideal quite location with great car parking. The room are spacious and I was travelling alone - my room was quite spacious with the most amazingly comfortable bed and pillows!
From the minute I stepped into the hotel I was greeted and made feel immediately at home with the warmest welcome from very friendly and courteous staff. A special mention here really has to go to the Bar staff - there was an older gentleman who's charm, welcome and kindness were above and beyond. The bar serves a great selection of food and you can also dine in the dining room. Breakfast was from a menu and some self service, again an adequate selection of food and well cooked and presented.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel as I was travelling onto Wexford and not until I was leaving did I realise that I had booked into the Ferrycarrig in Wexford which is their sister hotel. (by the way another amazing hotel one which I can thoroughly recommend).
This is an ideal hotel for a city break, weekend away, a shopping weekend or just passing through whereby you want a city location but not right in the heart of the activity.
Continued success - I will be back!
Second time staying with family at Hotel Kilkenny. Rooms are spacious, well presented and clean. The disability room was on the ground floor which made access much easier as we didn't have to use lifts constantly as sometimes is the case. Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we check in. The pool is a highlight, great size and spotless with great staff. Will definitely return.
I stayed here with my daughter. It was our second time staying. My daughter went the club and she loved it. The rooms are huge and the beds are comfortable. The swimming pool is lovely. The food is delcious. The hotel staff are all incredibably friendly.
