Haunted

I was super excited to stay here and straight went to Kimansion after I landed in Cochin on 16th June'16. Well, once after landing I tried calling but couldn't connect. I reached Fort Kochi and was standing at the doorstep ringing the doorbell for good 15-20 mins. No one came out. NO ONE. Thankfully me and my wife were backpacking so did not have any extra luggage else it would have got wet in the rain. Called and the number did not work. After almost half n hour we decided to take lunch in the cafe right across the road. Lunch was elaborate and after a good 1.5 hrs again I went to try my luck. But again no one came out to welcome. Disgusted we had to look for other options. It was not difficult at all as there are plenty more in the area. But guys please do not spoil your trip thinking good about this property. Am keeping my rating to Poor as I have not tried your service. But the impression was worse than the word 'Poor' can describe. I have travelled far and wide but never been through this.

First impression of India

This was our first time in India and we decided to try homestay properties for the first part of our tour. Kimansion is ideally placed to visit all the local attractions in Fort Kochi.
Two good restaurants nearby. Our breakfasts were good and whilst the rooms were basic they were clean and the staff were attentive.

Handy location

This old Portuguese building has big bedrooms and a longue for guests.

It is close to the Chinese fishing nets and St Francis Church. Two good restaurants are close by - Oceanos and Dal Roti. There is an ATM about 50 metres away. 9000 irs was the most we could get out of it at a time.

Breakfasts were varied and very good. Omelettes, masala dosas, fruit or coconut pancakes were served with big platters of fresh fruit.

Harish was very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble to him.

Comfortable Stay

Staying at Kimansion for this new year holidays was quite memorable. The place is like an old bungalow with articulate interiors, huge rooms, old school furniture, a lovely balcony at the back which overlooks the vintage neighboring houses, and royal ambiance. The manager/caretaker Harish was a great advisor on everything from food, travel and nearby places and their history, and helped warmly on all aspects of our stay with welcoming accessibility. Loved the morning breakfast sessions, and the palatial stay we had here, and will certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in Fort Kochi.
Few pointers: Do carry 3 pin plug converters as the rooms have old style plugs that work better for 3 pin, and carry an extra pair of slippers as walking on jute carpet in the room might not be for everyone.
