What People are saying

Horrible experience, inconsiderate staff

Cat Gon 27/05/2017 20:25

The guesthouse itself is fine for what you pay, small rooms and beds, but all pretty comfortable and in a good location. There was also a woman on reception during the day who was very helpful and booked us baseball tickets on her card - thank you for this!

Part of the issue was not being able to check in until 3pm, which is pretty late in the day and meant we didn't have anywhere to catch up on missed sleep.
Before we went to bed, two staff members were having a disagreement outside my room about working hours and how much work had been done, which didn't create a good atmosphere. Then one of our room mates, unfortunately, was a loud snorer and after two hours of no sleep, we decided to move downstairs to the communal area with our duvets. A few people came to sit in the adjacent kitchen area but were quiet and didn't disturb us. Around 2:45am, one of the staff members and a friend showed up and were really noisy. She quite rudely said this is the communal area and it's not meant to be quiet, understandable point and we could only explain the situation and asked if any of the other rooms were open. She made no effort to help, just said she didn't work today and the computer was off. We went to check our room and sit outside for ten minutes or so to give them some space. When we got back in the room to lie down, they then started watching a cartoon and clashed around the kitchen, seemingly just to make a point. I asked again, if they could please keep the noise down and her friend argued saying it wasn't noisy, after ten minutes they turned the volume of the cartoon right up. The whole thing was inconsiderate and unprofessional, we were quite clearly upset and in need of sleep. If it's somewhere you work, you'd think you'd make a bit more of a conscientious effort to bear guests in mind. After another hour, my husband asked them to turn it down again and they finally did. It would have been easy enough to find or unlock another room, or generally not be rude.

Meh

I didn't really like this hostel. The staff were fine but it didn't feel very clean. There was no air-conditioning in my room even though it was July. The light switch was outside the bathroom so every time someone went to the bathroom, they had to turn on the light and then open the bathroom door flooding the sleeping area with light. It is within walking distance of a bunch of stores, restaurant and bars. If you are looking to party then this hostel is fine.

Stay here if you want to experience the wild side of Seoul!

I've spent 5nights iP.S Ask Gilbert about his birth place :P n this amazing guesthouse and i enjoyed every minute of it. The staffs there take pride in their work and ensure the cleanliness of the guesthouse. Some of the staff took out their precious time to show us around the area, introducing us to places with good food. David, the handsome lad at the counter, will offer chips and mix drinks for us, opening up my knowledge on Soju. Donna, the always cheerful lady, never failed to make my room and bed in the morning. Last but not least, MR GILBERT! Coolest guy in town, work as hard as he parties (wink). He even cook my dinner for me! (Thanks bud) So guys, if you want to have some relax yet full scale experience of Seoul, do visit this guesthouse.

8 night of stay, Kimchee Hongdae Guesthouse offered me and friends a great place to rest in a low budget cost. only KRW15000 per night!
super fast wi-fi, hot water, friendly staffs especially Carter (thanks for helping us doing a midnight jajangmyeon delivery) and Minnie, towel and warm bedcover. again, for a low budget guesthouse, Kimchee Hongdae Guesthouse will be your favourite!

Bro Town

This is a party guesthouse through and through; if that's your thing, great. It's noisy, dirty, and the same price as the MUCH nicer guesthouse across the street. The common area is just a table with some plastic chairs and a smoking room; the staff are nice enough, but don't really pay much attention. I reserved a four-bed dorm, but the staff called to say they'd overbooked and asked me to stay in the cheaper six-bed dorm; no problem, I said. In the middle of the night, a drunk bro burst into the room and started loudly telling his friend to get out of bed to check out his wounds from being in a bar fight... just. Ugh. It is easy to find and conveniently located, and perhaps I just happened to be there on a Saturday night when the place was full of drunk dudes; guess I'll never know.
