I am a member of a vacation club where this property is part of the plan. It is off the beaten path, with nothing nearby except for a min-mart and a bar that appeared to not offer food, only drinks and games. It is not convenient to spending time down at Lake Tahoe unless you want to drive up and down the mountain each trip. The accommodations themselves were very nice, except that NEITHER of the hair dryers worked in the two bathrooms, and when I inquired at the front desk, there was no immediate solution. The maintenance manager had to be summoned to bring another so that I could dry my hair and go out in the cold without a wet head (which the front desk clerk suggested at first - "we'll have it replaced when you get back later today, how's that?". We left and paid money to stay in accommodations down at Lake Tahoe that weren't as nice, but were much more convenient. If you are there to ski and do your own grocery shopping, carrying it all in, cooking, and bringing out your own garbage, then this place will work well for you/your family.

We love this place!

We came to Kingsbury to celebrate my husband's 50th Birthday and we could not have had a better time. We were a party of 12 and were fortunate enough to reserve the Penthouse along with two 2BRs for our guests. Everyone had plenty of space and were extremely happy and comfortable at the resort. If you can get the Penthouse for a special occasion I'd highly recommend it because it has more than enough space to accommodate a big group of people--the layout is open and easy and folks can congregate in the huge kitchen or living area. It was perfect for the number of people we had. The Penthouse has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, and each room has a stunning view of either the valley or the lake (from a distance). It's a very impressive unit on every level and again, our guests absolutely loved joining us there. It has everything you need and more--including a grill on one of the decks, a washer/dryer, all appliances, heaters in every room, a fireplace and even a jacuzzi tub in the master bath! The decor is updated and very Tahoe. The other units for some of our guests were comfortable as well--quite spacious for 2 bedrooms/2 bath. They too had fully stocked kitchens and a washer/dryer. We had units 61, 53 and the 71 Penthouse. All great rooms, all very happy guests.

A few things to be aware of: the front desk staff is only around from 8A-6P. If you need anything before or after those hours, you need to call a number for help. And if you are arriving after 6P, you have to make arrangements to have your keys left in a lockbox for retrieval. The resort is located at the top of a mountain, so access to grocery stores and restaurants is about 15 minutes away. Be careful in the winter because the roads are quite windy and potentially slippery. Drive slow at night! The hot water takes a minute to warm up, so be patient. They have DVDs for rental (2 for $5) but the titles are limited. The gym is adequate but the equipment is a little outdated--especially the old school Stairmaster. There is a treadmill, elliptical and weight station as well. We didn't use the hot tub, racquetball court or game room but they do exist. Don't buy coffee filters--they are provided. And make sure you buy ground coffee as the resort doesn't provide a coffee grinder. Trust me, we had to learn the hard way on both fronts! The resort is located on the Nevada side of Tahoe so you are in close proximity to Harrah's, Montbleu and Hard Rock. And Heavenly is RIGHT there, so if you're a skier, you are a happy camper!

This is a fantastic resort that has everything you need. Comfort is a priority and it's evident in every unit. In my humble opinion, you can't go wrong staying here.

Enjoy!

Wonderful Stay

One of the nicest places to stay in the area especially if you use your exchange membership. Very spacious, has everything you need for a longer stay including in room washer/dryer. There is both a fitness room and racquet ball court inside altho the pool and spa are off site. It's quiet and pleasant with scenic views of the Sierras. Only the top floor penthouse has a view of lake Tahoe, however. We loved it & will go back.

A Most Comfortable Stay at Kingsbury of Tahoe

jim954on 11/10/2016 06:58

When we walked into our room (43) at the Kingsbury my wife and I both said wow this place feels like we are home. Not because of the decor or style of the place, but because it just felt comfortable. Everything was very clean and well maintained.

We were both surprised at how big the suite and bedrooms were. Though it was only the two of us, you could easily have six people stay there and not feel at all crowded. The master bedroom had a king bed, two night stands, a dresser, a rather small TV, a sitting chair, three closets, a safe, and full bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, a closet, and is directly across the hall from another full bathroom, (which makes it feel almost like an en suite). The bathrooms are definitely on the small size and really only fit one person at a time.

The living/dining room area is plenty big enough with a Murphy bed off to the side of the dining room table with a night stand next to it separated by the kitchen area. This gives the feel of a separate sleeping space when the bed is down.

The kitchen is large enough for a couple of people to work in easily. It has full sized appliances - refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, microwave oven, coffee maker; plenty of cabinet space, a lot of counter space, and most of the kitchen tools, dishes, pots, and pans you need to do most cooking. There is even a washer/dryer unit in a hall closet next to the kitchen.

There is a nice view to the east looking down into the valley from both bedrooms and the living/dining room. If a few trees were topped you would have an even better view, even so, the best view is from the second bedroom.

It seems that the free outside parking is just enough for the patrons. It was completely full the last night we stayed there. If we had other people with us using their own car we would have had to figure out where to put one of them.

The game room has a pretty good pool table, a card/game table, a larger TV with couch and chairs, and books. (Across from the front desk there are a lot of board games too.) There is only one working cue stick, but it is in pretty good shape for a community stick. If they had some tip glue they could probably fix the other one. We used the pool table and the slate was pretty level. There was only a nearly imperceptible roll off on one of the corner pockets.

The workout room looked to be well equipped with various treadmill, elliptical, and weight machines. I am not one that employs such things, so know that I am not the best at making this evaluation. There was also a dry sauna that we did not use.

We did use the racquetball court. Be advised, they do have rackets and balls, but you will want to bring your own racket as their's need some handle work to say the least. Fortunately we had our own.

We didn't visit the pool, it was closed for the season. So nothing to say other than it is a community pool and is a bit of a walk to get to it.

And, most importantly, Kathy, at the front desk was very helpful to us in finding different things to do and where to go in the area.

Without hesitation we would come back to and highly recommend the Kingsbury.

Great resort

Had a two bedroom as could nit get smaller unit. The two br is spacious with dinning room, livibg room combo and open to the kitchen separated by a island with stools. As mentioned in more details by ither reviewers it has a Murphy bed. The kitchen has full size appliances a bit outdated but functional. It has two full bathrooms but they are small as only one person at a time can use them, well if one is showering another could brush if you really want to. Near parks, hiking trails, casinos, and the lake. Longer than 10 minutes but not bad. Very quiet and serene place with friendly staff.
