What People are saying

Great location, good value for money

Liliana Don 17/04/2017 12:43

If you are looking for a shiny new hotel this is not it, this is an old fashioned but comfortable hotel. It is also conveniently located just next to UENO JR station, which will connect to all relevant parts of the city via JR.

I enjoyed my stay and the staff was always very helpful (specially the lady in the morning shift, thank you for her help with our laundry).

Great Location, Neat Facility

The hotel is very close to Ueno JR station (and so the Tokyo metro station) just right behind the OIOI mall. The hotel consists of 6 floors. My friend and I rent a room for 3 people without bathroom inside (there's also restroom located on every floor as far as I can see). The room was a bit old but well-maintained. The shared bath we have to use is quite small however, the time we chose to take a bath is not crowded (11 p.m. - midnight). The bath and rooms cleaner than we anticipated.
The staff know little to no English but they try their best to communicate with us.

One of my friends staying with me at the time says he would choose the this hotel again when he has opportunity to visit Tokyo again.

Terrific Location, Very Basic Accomodation

This is a great place to stay for location in Ueno. It is a easy 5 minute walk from several stations: the Keisai Skyliner from Narita, the golden color Ginza line that goes across the city, and the JR line that goes in a circle. It's also in the heart of Ameyoko so lots of places to eat (although finding breakfast was a bit tough.) Stayed in a Japanese style room that fit two persons. Room was clean and they refreshed the sheets and towels daily. Patrons should be aware that there is one shower and one toilet per floor shared among the guests. That can be tricky for some. And the walls are thin so it is advisable to bring ear plugs. There are definitely fancier places to stay but price was good and location was terrific. Not much English spoken so be patient.

Great Location

Located about two blocks away from Ueno Station and a block away from Ameyoko...about 5 min. walk to Ueno Park. Great location for shopping (street shopping and department store), various restaurants steps away, pachinko, izakaya, department stores by the station and IOIO a block away .... Convenience stores also around each corner.

Stayed in a Japanese-style tatami room for three. Bathroom was down the hall and bathtub and shower on different floors for women and men. There is also the option of having a room with bath attached.

It is an older hotel but staff is friendly, there is free wifi, laundry machine on site and it is clean.

Noisy due to thin room walls

LiangGeon 01/09/2015 19:13

The room walls of the hotel were quite thin as it was traditional Japanese style, anybody closing a door would send a tremour to all the other room on the same floor, making it extremely noisy. My room was just beside the female bathroom and I could hear every sound that came from inside it. During daytime, I could feel the vibration from the passing trains on the nearby JR line. The shared bathrooms were totally Japanese style, which was not to my liking. I didn't have a single good night sleep due to all the noise, which was a shame as I really like the price and location of the hotel.
