Charming traditional style Japanese hotel located only minutes from the slopes.
jledsteron 15/03/2017 21:01Very friendly hotel in Nozawa Onsen, located within easy walking distance of the slopes.
Stayed here for three nights in March and it was excellent, great snow, great service and a great experience.
Ko and her team at the hotel were very welcoming and helpful and the hotel itself is very well kept with enough facilities to make your stay comfortable.
Nozawa Onsen is a great little mountainside town with a very traditional feel and a large selection of restaurants and bars.
Loved staying here and will definitely return.
Haven for snow lovers
Sally Con 19/02/2017 07:24This place offers a strong cultural experience with futons, onsens and traditional Japanese breakfasts and dinners in the beautiful Nozawaonsen
But it also is ideally situated to the slopes-just pop on the moving walkway and store your skis at the rental joint
The food is excellent - by all means eat in the little hideaway restaurants down those windy cobbled streets but Definately take the dinner options at kiriya
Ko the host is also a delight and very helpful
And then miracles of miracles you can walk round the corner to the st Anton cafe and join all the other Australians buying pretty decent coffee
Great stay.
Dave Son 04/02/2017 07:45Japanese style Ryoken accommodation with combination of Japanese and Western style rooms. Ko and her staff are very friendly. This is a fairly large place so it can take allot of people. Is fairly close to main area of Nozawa Onsen as well as the Yu Road to get you to the base of the ski slopes. They have a mixture of Japanese or Western style breakfast. They also offer Japanese style dinners in their eating rooms which are good value. Have good storage facilities and a drying room and male/female onsen. Also have a laundry on site. They also have 3 cats to keep you amused. Recommended as one of the better places to stay in Nozawa Onsen.
Amazing stay in Nozawa
Wanderlust084on 01/02/2017 23:20I booked to stay here on the recommendation of a friend. It was our first trip to Japan and we had the most wonderful time. Ko, whose family has run the ryokan for many generations couldn't have been more helpful. In planning our trip I had to change my booking dates several times and it was never a problem. Ko lent me boots, an electrical adaptor and drove us to the bus stop when we left as my husband had sprained his ankle. Nothing was too much trouble for her.
The ryokan is a short walk to the moving foot way to the ski lifts and close to the main shopping street. The village itself is delightful.
I chose to have western beds which were very comfortable and our room was very spacious with its own toilet and basin.
I did give my review 5 stars because we had such a lovely time and enjoyed the onsen on several occasions but it would have been nice to have our own shower. I think some rooms might. We chose to have a western breakfast which I thought was pretty ordinary but the Japanese breakfast looked very well done.
A really lovely stay and amazing snow and skiing experience.
A wonderful experience in a traditional Japanese Hotel
Cathy Con 27/01/2017 07:24Not knowing quite what to expect, our first time in a traditional Japanese hotel was a great experience, so good that we are hoping to return next year. Ko, our host was just wonderful, warm, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her. Jack, from Australia, was so helpful in instructing us in the traditional customs of staying in such a hotel.we were offered both western and Japanese breakfast, being pescetarians we were well catered for. The rooms were spacious and extremely clean, the onsen was a treasure that we used before and after skiing. We loved the whole experience, and hope to return next year. Thank you Ko and Jack.
