What People are saying

Gorgeous property but service was lacking

13ellezeeon 25/08/2017 17:27

I chose this hotel because of their Instagram photos, and visually, at least, this hotel did not disappoint. It is all bohemian romanticism and very, very pretty. I loved my room, bathroom, the two pools, the cozy fire pit areas, and all the decor was just lovely. The only thing I didn't like about my room was that it faced out onto a busy street, which you can't tell from the website photos. If I had known, I would have asked for a room facing the interior courtyards.

But aside from the physical space, I gave this hotel only three stars because of the service. The only saw about four employees the whole time I was there. I thought they were kind of snobby in attitude - not friendly or welcoming. Service was very lackadaisical and unresponsive. I felt myself wishing I could speak to a "grown-up" when I had issues - they were all very young. Some of the issues I experienced (and did not get satisfactory help with) were: my room safe was not working, my room was not cleaned very well each day (hairs left in the shower, toiletries and towels not replenished), and I needed help getting my suitcases to and from the room. There did not seem to be anyone who could help with that. And there was no iron in the room. I requested one and they told me they would bring it to my room, but they never came.
The other thing that was disappointing was the breakfast. Every morning, there were three options to choose from, and even though I only stayed three days, the options were often repeated. And ALL OF THEM INCLUDED DAIRY! Come on, people - can't there be some variety for all the different diets people are on these days? Because I am dairy-free, I could only eat small parts of the breakfasts. :(

To sum it up: This hotel really delivers on the gorgeous visuals, but is very lacking in the other things that make a hotel comfortable and a place you'd want to visit again. I'm glad I got to experience this hotel, but I can't really recommend it and I wouldn't stay there again, especially since there are so many other good choices in Palm Springs.
Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't face out on the busy street.

A Jewel in the Desert

This review affirms the sentiments of those posted before -- the Korakia is a boutique treasure in the land of plentiful luxury accommodation. Subtly glamorous and elegant, it attracts couples, solo travelers, and those seeking a quiet respite from the standard hotel experience.

The grounds are immaculate, the staff attentive without being conspicuous. Personal touches like poolside lavender-scented washcloths and lit candles in your room at sundown are a hallmark of the stay.

The "downfall" of the Korakia is it's very picturesque backdrop, which attracts the Instagram crowd. At any given time of day, there are guests posing, directing, and snapping as though it's a professional photo shoot -- which is about as relaxing as trying to take a nap in a mattress showroom.

Thankfully, there are two pools (and essentially two properties), so you can generally find a spot to escape the paparazzi.

A truly beautiful experience.

A writing retreat

Korakia is, I think, mostly known as a romantic getaway or a venue for a cozy destination wedding. It is a sweet spot--a small inn with very friendly staff, simple but lovely breakfast, quiet poolside hangout with a sandwich or salad lunch option, and some lovely extras like excellent massage, meditation, yoga, and open air movies. Palm Springs in the summer is kind of a crazy getaway. It's really hot! But it was absolutely perfect as a writing retreat. I had 4 days in July and needed to shut out the world. The set up at Korakia was perfect: write, write, write, then breaks floating in the pool, then back to my air conditioned haven. I'll be back when I have time to enjoy it as a relaxing vacation.

Loved the Serenity

I stayed in one of the rooms with a little probate kitchen and private patio. It was dreamy. The first thing i noticed is that there was no TV. Instead there was an old record player and with records. Loved it. I played the Beatles record... very fun.
The place was quiet and serene. At night people were sitting outside on cushions watching a classic movie under the stars. Truly special place.

Pol was a little too small for my taste though. The massage i got, was mediocre. And, the breakfast not that good. That;s why im giving 4 instead of 5 stars.

All in all i enjoyed the place.

Lovely

Coming back from relaxing in Tulum, a friend of mine had mentioned he had just stayed at the Korakia. He had also mentioned The Sparrows Lodge as well. Another friend who had stayed at the Korakia insisted that I stay at The Colony which I ended up booking. But I couldn't stop thinking of how beautiful the Korakia looked, especially at night. So I cancelled my reservation at the Colony and opted for the Korakia. And I was completely enchanted! I stayed from Wednesday through Friday in the very quiet and private Limnos room on the Mediterranean side. It was absolutely perfect for me to zone out and completely relax. The bed was soft with beautiful linens, the lights were ambient, the furniture was unique, and the stone shower with the sunflower head was perfect. The air conditioner didn't bother me at all. The temperature outside ranged from 100-120. I got used to it, dipping in and out of the pool. I didn't spend much time in the room. They don't have misters so I brought a "mister fan" from a drugstore. It was perfect when I was out of the water.

The grounds are beautiful & immaculate with hidden spots and shade all around. In the evening, the Mediterranean pool has 3 fire pits on one side at the edge. If breathtaking. Both pools are saltwater and feel amazing. There is also a fire pit away from the pools with chairs for having a relaxing chat. At around 8pm they project a classic movie on a white wall where you can lounge on Moroccan style cushions and rugs under cute umbrellas. There are also wooden beds to lounge around on scattered throughout the property.

Both pool areas have wrought iron loungers with thick, comfortable cushions. The beautiful staff makes sure that there are always fluffy towels on each one and clears away old ones quickly so there is no fighting over places to sit. Plenty of umbrellas provide shade and the staff comes around with popsicles & chilled lavender scented towels.

My friend joined me on Friday-Sunday on the Moroccan side. We stayed in the Nomad suite that had a full kitchen with beautiful inlaid wood table and chairs. The suite had a very large living room with a settee that could double as a bed, a wood burning fireplace, a beautiful velvet club chair and library shelf with ladder.

The bedroom was spacious with a large antique chest of drawers, French doors leading to a private patio with settee and table, a large closet with doors to close and hangers for your things. (Could use maybe 6 more hangers). The bed was not as soft as the Limnos room, but it was built on this incredible stone. The pillows were soft & the linens were as well.

The bathroom had an amazing stone shower/tub combination that I have never seen before. It was truly magical. Drawers & shelves abound in the bathroom & I believe it was a double since. Hairdryer is provided as well as tissues, lotion, soap, shampoo & conditioner.

The Moroccan side pool had some lovely shaded areas and a beautiful bar where you could fill your ice bucket. There is no bar/restaurant there, but you are free to bring your own drinks. Next to the Moroccan pool is a lovely water fountain. And also nearby is a huge padded semicircle sectional with a firepit in the middle across from a wall of 3 waterfalls.

In the late afternoon Moroccan tea is served with pine nuts, orange slices, and Medjool Dates. All delicious. Throughout the day they have light snacks for purchase and free chilled fruit infused water.

The pools are open 24/7 and the gates are locked and patrolled by security dot it felt very safe. Also, the property backs up to the mountains so the view is amazing.

They offer massages in a small, cool spa room & that was delightful.

The included breakfasts were phenomenal and served on beautiful colorful plates with fresh squeezed orange juice & coffee.

The amenities we did not take part i, but are available are meditation on Saturdays & Yoga on Sundays.

I did order from the French menu restaurant they partner with, but maybe what I got was not that great.

All in all, I would come back as much as I could it was that wonderful & magical.

Special thanks to Virginia for being incredibly helpful as well as the rest of the beautiful girls who worked there!

I didn't want to ever leave!
