Athira Don 25/06/2017 14:49The hotel is a great 'value for money' option in Zurich. It's quite accessible by public transport (3rd stop on the line S6 from the main station and a 3 mins walk). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and comfortable. It was a 'much better than expected' experience. The breakfast was included in the package. The service and the food was amazing unlike the buffet system. Freshly baked bread and hand pressed orange juice and a warm and kind smile from the waitress- great start to the day..!
Fine if you need to be in the area
AndySW18on 30/05/2017 21:30If you need to be in this area of Zurich, as we did, then this is a basic but adequate hotel. If you are just visiting Zurich for a city visit I would advise casting your net elsewhere as the area is very residential and not much going on though it is not far from the airport and has a train station nearby. I also understand it is quite cheap for Zurich.
Wifi, tv heating, hot water etc all worked well and there was a kettle on the landing for making hot drinks. The bed was not the most comfortable and the pillows were the worst I have come across. Found myself trying to fold the pillow twice to try and get some support.
There is a earlier 5 star review that describes the hotel as being in the middle of Zurich and having lots of things included in the package. Ignore this review as it very definitely not about Hotel Kronenhof
Search a better hotel!
francesco111305on 09/09/2016 09:22This hotel is really small and quite old, reception unattended in the middle of Saturday afternoon, no doors on the elevator, room small and I found bath towel dirty. Also no clear instruction on how to reach the parking. Better find another hotel in Zurich.
Better Than Its Three Stars!
Mike Bon 05/08/2016 13:06During July, my wife and I took a bicycle tour of Lake Constance and as a part of the package stayed at the Kronenhof. Terrific, elegant, an able staff, and a true winner. It's right smack in the middle of the historic city. We loved our rooms which were modern and well-appointed, especially for a 3-star hotel. Our meals were included in our package and I cannot say enough of the menu and wait staff. Fine dining indeed. Be prepared: The Kronenhof, like many hotels doesn't have air-conditioning. But then again, the region's cool summer doesn't necessarily require it.
Really it's a front for a Brazilian nightclub
shinbroton 09/07/2016 10:17The rooms are tiny and old, but one can live with that. The real problem is that the owner has decided to augment his earnings by opening a Brazilian club beneath the hotel that *starts* playing music at 10:30 pm. By 1:30 am, they're starting to go strong. If you want to sleep, this is not the place for you.
The rooms, by the way, have no mechanical lock, only an electronic one, so there is nothing to keep anyone with a bit of knowhow from opening any room.
