What People are saying

Way to expensive for the quality

anthony fon 03/06/2017 08:10

I went with friends to eat there and enjoy the beautiful pool. The food took ages to come, it was not really good and was really expensive. There is this 21% taxe.
We went to the pool to relax, they ask.us to pay an extra 10 dollars.....
Do not go there, there is plenty of more welcoming resort in this area

A Perfect Dive Getaway and a New Favourite

DrEiznofon 01/05/2017 02:27

This is my 6th visit to Tulamben and just when I thought I've 'seen it all', the gem that is Kubu Indah was a pleasant surprise and this might just be a new favourite.

The resort ran like clockwork but didn't give you a sense of being hurried around. The dive center was one of the best run I've seen (and I've clocked over 200 dives). Dive briefings were crisp/precise, logistics were sharp and the crew was warm and spoke good English. We really appreciate how they went out of the way to accommodate guests who arrive late in the night and are unable to join the scheduled dives the next day. One of the senior dive guides (Juli) took us on a check dive at the House Reef and even arranged for us to dive the Liberty Wreck when it was clearly not planned for the day.

The proprietress of the resort (Riki) was really warm too. She personally welcomed each of us and took great lengths at ensuring we were comfortable.

An underrated part of the resort is perhaps the restaurant. Some reviewers have quite unfairly commented that the Balinese dishes at the restaurant weren't authentic enough but perhaps it hadn't quite occurred to them that the local chefs were cooking to cater to a foreign palate. I asked for local versions (original spice levels) of my meals and they were instant winners.

Big thanks to the Kubu Indah team - I know I will be back.

Beautiful peaceful resort

Lauren Kon 11/04/2017 22:05

This resort is beautiful! It is in a smaller village a little far from the airport, but that is one of the good scuba diving areas. The staff is very nice and helpful. The scuba diving was absolutely amazing. We had never done it before and the staff was so nice and helpful. They made us feel very comfortable. The resort is located fairly close to a volcano and right on the sea so the views are amazing. The restaurant at the resort is very good. They have great options and run a daily special. The pool side bar has great drinks and they have a happy hour! If you want a resort with a peaceful feel this is the place for you, even if you don't dive.

First on the positive side:
Like mentioned before, the hotel area is gorgeous and lush green. The gardens are very well maintained and it looks like you have just arrived in paradise. It has a jaw dropping view with huge palmtrees and there is a lot of space to sit and relax and enjoy the view.

Staff is friendly and welcoming. But do not perse seem to like their jobs.

The rooms are a bit small but well decorated.

On the other hand; th restaurant is okayish but not super, even indonesian food is soso. The price they charge is not in line with quality and taste or in comparision to the other restaurants (way too high!).

When you want to go to Tulamben or any other place close by they charge you absurdly high prices. I understand Kubu area is not the busy Seminyak area and there are no taxi services here. I also get that you want to make a little money here and there, bit charging 250k idr for a one way dropp off to Tulamben is a little bit farfeched for my liking...for me that feels they are squeezing their guests to the maximum. Same goes for the price of the spa, laundry etc.
This gave our stay a little bitter taste to be honest and thats a shame when you are ij a paradise like this.

There a no coffee of thea making facilities. Rooms / doors dont close too wel and this causes the airco not to work properly. Shower window does not close so it stays really humid and hot and also influences the airco in the room. Its not possible to get the room cool or below 28 degrees.
Shower drain overflows with every shower.

Furthermore a lot of German guests, maybe a plus if you are German, when youre not it can be a bit annoying and too loud.

Too bad experience for such a promising and beautiful place! Would not recommend

An amazing and clean place to relax

PankaMinion 28/02/2017 07:29

We spended almost two weeks in february in a "villa" with friends. We had private pool and fenced garden. The staff is very nice and professional. The sea is clean and amazing. It is not isolated, because the Resort offers special tours into the Island. We had an amazing driver Khresna, who drow us to beautiful places and answered our every question about everydays life of Balinese people. The resort offers menu for dinner and I recommend to try it, because they have a very good kichen. I tried the massage and after it I was totally relaxed. I miss this place and I miss this beautiful island and it's people.
