Absolute fraud on an accidentally booked reservation!!

Do not trust this hotel. I got ripped off and did not even stay there. How? Well when booking my hotel online through Expedia I accidentally booked this hotel so yes my mistake initially. However I immediately contacted the hotel and asked for them to cancel the reservation for my two rooms. They AGREED to cancel one room only. WAHT? Then they said the only way they would refund my second room charge was if they were able to resell the second room. Ok that sucks but was at least a compromise.

A few days before my stay I checked Expedia and the hotel was showing as SOLD OUT for the dates of my stay. Great this should be a done deal. To be sure I also stopped by when I was in Cologne and just inquired about their vacancy. Guess what? Same answer NO rooms available.

Today I received an email stating they were unable to resell my room and therefore would be charging me for the entire booking. What a complete lie and fraud. By every means available I had proven they resold this room.

So a little mistake that could have been resolved three weeks in advance and within 2 minutes of being made is now resulting in a charge of $1,600 to me for a room that I did not use and they RESOLD!

Your call if this is the type of establishment you want to do business with...

Location location location - fantastic in the heart of the mainly pedestrian old town. Walking distance to the museums, philharmonic halls, shopping areas, station, cathedral & boat tours.

We arrived by car - they have a garage - but you don't need a car to see this city

The hotel has a lift (small but working) the rooms are basic - no fridge or tea/coffee facilities. The bathrooms have showers which have quite a step up to them. Bedding is crisp white cotton as are towels. Our rooms were well presented and clean. We had river facing rooms - lovely views but you will need earplugs as the restaurants outside are very busy until late and because of the location revellers tend to be around until the early hours!!!!

I have to say this hotel has excellent manoeuvrability for a wheelchair - not only in the bedrooms but in the general areas also. I cannot say how fabulous the ALL the staff were / I travelled with mum (89 years young) who is in a wheelchair - they were extremely helpful in every way making her feel very comfortable and in no way a hinderance - this to me was priceless. My only small issue was the shower access for mum but we worked round it!!

We dined here alfresco each evening - lovely menu lots of choice - food freshly cooked and really tasty. Very attentive staff.

A small hotel very cozy and great location. We had a Rhine River view and all the pubs and bars are just around the corner. Great eateries along the way and their own restaurant has great food. The best part of our stay was the reception/welcome gentleman (sorry forgot his name) but he was a ball of energy. Pleasant, extremely friendly and ever so helpful. The hotel is just 10-15 mnt walk to all the cologne attractions including the cathedral and the station.

Highly recommended and would stay there again.

We stayed over a lovely warm weekend. Upon checking in, we were happy to learn they had given us the apartment. "Wow, thank you! That is so kind!" Except the apartment, while it has lovely views of the river, is extremely loud from the restaurant crowds below. The river walk is lovely, but the noise pre-empts any sweetness of this hotel. Maybe for a winter visit.

Crap hotel

Only thing going for this place is the location. The rooms are gross and old. There is disgusting degraded linen under the white sheets. Breakfast is terrible. It was outrageously expensive at the time we stayed in March.
