Very nice, but one issue

We spent 4 nights in half board, and we thouroughly enjoyed the Grand. It actually comes close to the best rating, as it delivers in (almost) all areas:
- Nice room, modern, well-equipped
- Good sleep quality, excellent beds and pillows, good noise insulation
- Excellent breakfast
- Fabolous dining room, good food and relaxing atmosphere
- Very nice reading/relaxing area with view
- Fancy bar on the roof
- Good service
- Nice spa area, large swimming pool
- Top fitness area

There is only one "but", which was however annoying enough to prevent the Grand from getting the top rating: in the room there was a persistent "wet dog" smell... It's probably our fault that we did not raise it with hotel management when we took the room. We thought it would go away and/or that we were being a bit too demanding. But the smell did not go away, unfortunately.

But apart this issue it was a really fine hotel experience, and we also think value-for-money was good.

This is still my favourite hotel anywhere in the world.
We've been coming here now 3 years and standards remain as high as ever, the place is spotless, service is excellent and the quality of food superb.
Location is A1, views are never ending.
The leisure facilities are A1, Sauna, Spa, Pool, all so so nice.
I wish some of the professionalism from downstairs could be transferred upstairs to the Weitblick Bar.

Relax in luxury by the sea (but at a price)

This is a luxury hotel and I am not sure that it is entirely worth the cost except if you book some sort of special price. Rooms on third and fourth floors facing the sea are best, in my opinion. The rooms on the higher floors facing the other direction have a decent view of the bay and get the morning sun. The beach is only a two-minute walk across the street. The view from the street facing rooms is excellent with virtually the entire wall made up of floor to ceiling windows.

Because this is a luxury hotel, I would expect even the small things to be just right. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Some examples of seemingly minor annoyances were the lack of outlets in the rooms. It is quite simple to place one or two adapters in each room to make up for the lack of outlets. In this day and age, everyone has a mobile phone and perhaps a tablet or laptop. Yet, there was only a single extra electrical outlet near the door. Oddly, there was a luggage stand in one room but not the other; hangers were plentiful in one room, but barely adequate in another. Attention to these details would bring it up to a higher rating if you can live with the high prices.

The bar on the top floor was closed while we were there for renovations which was a disappointment but the lobby-level lounge was open and adequate. Vegetarian meals are also possible in the restaurant but you have to ask unless you want to eat the same meal each night.

There are saunas and a pool (though the pool has an odd shape and there are statues in the middle of it so it is not good for swimming). There are many things you'd expect in a wellness-oriented hotel like massages. But again, don't expect too much from these. They are nothing special.

I felt reasonably comfortable while I was there which is good, but reflecting on it a couple of days later, it is expensive and there is relatively little to do in the town itself (other than go to the beach). But if that is why you go there, then this is where you will want to stay.

Perfect get-away

Love the are. Love the hotel. Though it is up by the sea, it is a modern urban place with the perks of being a wellness hotel. Great interior design. International staff and international guests. Great for families as well as singles. Beaches are beautiful and a spit away. Rooms are modern with perfect view. Very spacious. Restaurant Weitblick is a gem. Staff knows the best cocktails and kitchen is healthy and yummy.

Awesome place. Excellent location.
Our room had an excellent view to the ocean. The buffet breakfast is so satisfying. The place has a functional swimming pool in peak winter. The restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean makes you feel as if you are on a cruise in a luxury liner. Loved every bit of the time spent there.
