Overpriced and not 'boutique'

We were staying in an airbnb apartment, but ended up having an extra day in Santa Marta. The owner of the apartment also owned this hotel, so we decided to take the extra night here. It's fairly high priced compared to other rooms in Santa Marta. We had just gotten in from a hike and were really looking forward to a warm shower. Unfortunately the room had only cold water. When we altered the owner, she responded quickly, but had someone come into our room without our permission. This felt like an invasion of privacy and the water didn't end up fixed. The bathroom was also uncleaned, dirt in the sink, scum on the shower floor and rings in the toilet bowl. The breakfast was good, location central, and the staff was pleasant. The owner offered us a margarita for our problems, and allowed us to check out late, both of which were appreciated, but I still wish we chose to stay somewhere else.

Quiet & comfortable

Casa del arbol has a great location just back from parque de los novios. The staff are friendly and attentive. The hotel (being spruced up at the moment) is small & has its charm. Our stay was comfortable & the breakfast was decent. However there was no water in the jacuzzi, our aircon worked but made a squeeky noise from time to time through the night. There are so many great boutuique hotels in santa marta around the same price & i feel that casa de arbol is a bit expensive in comparison. There is no car park, so if you go by car be prepared to spend an extra 25000/30000 in a car park situated just around the corner.

My Reserved room was given to someone else! The staff was not forthright & Honest

Incredibly bad experience by a former client & repeat visit to this property this week... I reserved my "Deluxe Terrace Room" with a Queen Size bed on Hotels.com. Upon my arrival at the property, I encountered Valentina (front desk) who brought us to what I thought was the room I reserved. It was not. It was instead a room with two "full size beds." I immediately pointed out to her that this was not the room I reserved. Only then did she inform me that my room was not available because it was given to another guest. Over the next 3.5 hours until almost 9 PM, Valentina & her co-worker Tony (also front desk) attempted to SELL me on this other room with two “full size beds”. They even went so far to misrepresent the beds in this room as being 2 queen sized beds. Their excuses just seemed to be endless. In response, I peeled back the sheets & mattress cover to show them the mattress markings & called Hotels.com. It was only after I emailed a picture of the mattress to Hotels.com and showed the front desk staff the picture of the mattress size, did they capitulate and admit to both me that they only had a room with two "full sized beds." They then blamed Hotels.com stating that they are responsible for the description. They insinuated that the description was some sort of error. This was a terrible experience & handled very poorly & completely unprofessionally by the front desk staff. A manager was not available at the hotel and no attempt was made by any person in management to either talk with us or solve this problem. This hotel is simply not recommended. (Pictures attached)

Great stay and staff

We felt welcome at Casa del Arbol. The Mamoncillo room had a nice large balcony and a very private feel. The open shower has an edgy feel and is perfect for the Santa Marta heat. The room was very large and comfortable - and even the mini bar prices are competitive! The bed was very comfortable and makes it hard to get out to the beautiful sights around. The room was quiet and was a pleasure to stay in.
The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful at all times. Taxis were arranged in a split second and icing on the cake, we were allowed to go take a post-beach shower at Casa del Patio (sister hotel one block up), after having checked out, before getting on our bus to Cartagena.
The breakfast choices are very nice. Small pool to cool off if you want. Overall very recommended.

Our stay in Casa del Árbol was excellent! The room was impeccable, very nice and comfortable bed and the staff was nice and kind. They have a little jacuzzi in the terrace, the bad thing is that is cold water so is no good idea to use it at night as usually the breeze is a little cold. Breakfast was very good.
