A hotel we have returned to for four years.
susan462016on 17/05/2017 18:42Although slightly off the Auto route A13 La Chaine d'Or is worth the detour. The rooms are well furnished comfortable and 'French' in decoration. The food is of a high standard and the menu varied. The hotel is on the banks of the Seine and and dinner is made more even enjoyable by watching the Seine barges pass by. We enjoyed one one night stays so much we brought the family over for a long weekend and visited Giverny.
Fantastic ....yet again
Vicky Bon 13/05/2017 22:17I have stayed here 4 or 5 times now and love it. The views of the Seine and passing river traffic are wonderful. The food is superb and the owners Stephanie and Olivier could not be more welcoming. They have recently refurbished the ensure rooms overlooking the Seine and these have been really well done. We have the dinner bed and breakfast package. The evening deal is a real feast but be prepared to take your time over it. There is no rushed service so although you have 4 courses you don't feel too full at the end, as it's taken a while. But I would far prefer that to feeling too full and not able to sleep!! We also usually take the opportunity to visit Monet's garden which is only 30-40 minutes drive. There is a lovely walk along the towpath right outside the hotel. Highly recommended.
A true gem
gomezskidogon 02/03/2017 01:46We had a small group and booked 4 rooms in this hotel. Each room was incredible and vastly different. The location could not have been more picturesque on the Seine.
The town was simply charming with only a couple restaurants but absolutely delicious. There was a corner bakery that had the best croissants I tasted during my entire trip to France. The hotel included a breakfast, which at first, I thought was quite bare, as it consisted of breads, yogurt, and fruit. I was use to an American breakfast with eggs or pancakes. However, it turned out to be simply delicious. The fruit did not look like much but it was chocked full of flavor. The yogurt came in glass jars and was amazing. I had never tasted yogurt like that before (and probably never will again). I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We went a couple years ago and I have been meaning to write a review but am just getting around to it now. We actually went in summer 2015 but it wasnt a choice from tripadvisor
A beautiful location
Chickadeecroydonon 28/09/2016 18:18We spent one night in this wonderful hotel with its beautiful views of the Seine. We had read about it some years before when it was in the hands of the previous owner. The junior suite (Room 1) turned out to be a vast room with a massive bed and a commanding view over the river. The area itself possesses a number of historic sites to visit as well as being handily placed for the Monet garden at Giverny. The food was satisfactory although being a Sunday evening the full a la carte choice was not available. This did not bother us.
The proprietors, M.and Mme Bicot are very pleasant and helpful. If you are a Calvados drinker (which I am!) ask to see the Calvados "digestif" list. The variety of vintages available is eye-watering.
We plan to return at some stage.
Service was non-existent…be prepared to spend three or four hours for dinner.
TayeTooon 02/09/2016 16:30We did not stay at the hotel rather we reserved a table at the restaurant based on a friends recommendation. While the food was okay it was not what one would expect from a Michelin restaurant. We ordered a glass of champagne and a bottle of Rose’. The champagne came about ten minutes after ordering and although the wine was delivered about 20 minutes later it was placed on a serving table to 'chill'. We enjoyed the champagne with our Foie Gras which was the nicest item on the menu. We waited about ten minutes after our entrée was delivered before flagging someone down to ask them to pour us a glass of wine and then it was was warm! The saving grace was that the table had a beautiful view of the river so although we sat there for extended periods between each service we could enjoy the view until night fell and everything was black. We each took the menu @ $49 plus our wine and glass of champagne.
