Went in for help, was racially abused by the dirty untidy chef
RedlynchSteveon 26/08/2015 14:44My wife went into the bar/restaurant only to see the chef eating at a table coughing and wiping his mouth on the apron. Meanwhile my daughter (11) picked up a few tourist leaflets. As they left, this somewhat overweight, unshaven and quite frankly disgusting chef approached my wife and demanded the leaflets back in the most unpolite manner imaginable. He refused to be polite to an 11 year old girl and in the resulting conversation it was more than apparent that he has no time for the English and told us in no uncertain terms where to go. If this was the last place to eat and stay in Vimoutiers I would rather starve and sleep on the pavement. A totally abhorrent person who doesn't deserve any custom from overseas visitors, and of course I haven't mentioned his disgusting habits seen by my wife when he was eating
At least we could leave...
JPM-FRon 15/06/2015 14:23We had planned to stay here a number of nights. Other reviews caused us to doubt the quality of the hotel, but we decided to give it a go anyway...
We arrived around 2300, having advised the hotel of our arrival time in advance. The person on duty seemed annoyed at having to wait up for us, but gave us the room key and told us how to access the hotel/bar/restaurant when they were 'closed'. It was too late to book a breakfast for the following morning apparently...
The room? Functional, but in need of a good clean. Wifi signal strength was almost zero. No towels had been provided.
Bed was comfortable enough, but could have done with proper pillows.
Next morning, there was no hot water. And no one about to report it to. Walked across the road to the boulangerie to get breakfast.
On returning that evening, we were told that the hot water should be working and given some towels. We also booked breakfast for the next morning.
No hot water, despite letting it run for 15 minutes. Breakfast was adequate, rather than good. We decided to check out early and find a better hotel (not difficult!).
OK - it was a cheap hotel. But at that price point you would expect a decent standard of service, towels already in the room and hot water.
