What People are saying

Bad reception . Beautiful beach

Fadi Mon 26/07/2017 13:16

Arrived at 2h00 pm with small children and Weren't checked in before 7h00 pm . The staff told us that check in time was only an 'approximation'. They were very arrogant about the situation . The rest of the stay was ok . The beach is clean and the water beautiful . The staff at the morning buffet helpful . And the room were satisfactory .

Beautiful..

Hello all,
Stay away from this hotel (and country) IF all you want to do is spend your 'holiday' finding fault in everything !!!!

My husband and I are still here. I booked this holiday and hotel without checking up on the hotel beforehand.
We are both totally over the moon... This is paradise and a real gem to find.

I have read the comments others have posted. Cert, I can't comment much on thier room experiences but I can most certainly comment on the hotel and the staff.
I am English and husband French and yes, I do speak French. After reading the 'language moans' I decided to test the quality of language spoke by the staff and only spoke in English. I can tell you now that every single member of staff spoke English and those who didn't speak well, DID do their best to communicate... So bravo !!

Please do remember:
This is a country that is French spoken, in fact it is France !! I'm sure that the most people would not complain about the lack of English speaking staff when they visit the French Riviera, or France in general...
Please do be patient and give some respect and you will receive a warm generous smile from all staff here and every effort to help you.

Our room looks over the gardens and we have a view of the sea the distance. It's beautiful and clean. Mind you, I did miss not having basket of fruit in our room on arrival, which our friends did get... But hey, that's not going to make me complain or spoil my holiday.

We went on a day boat trip with Laurent .. Booked via the lovely bubbly Gladys. I have to say it was one of the best boat trips we have had. Well worth the price.

The gardens are glorious and lead straight to the beach. I would not hesitate to bring children here, it seems everything is thought of for their safety.

The hotel gift shop is small but great for buying souvenirs or some rum to take home. A big thank you to Yasmen for her friendly welcome .

If you are hesitating about booking this hotel, then read all you can and make your own judgement. My husband and I can only give our opinion and it is a 100% thumbs up.
We will most certainly be back here soon.

Happy holiday.

Despite a few weak points the hotel is really very nice all around. We are planning to go back in Octobrer !

We wish some of the reception staff would smile a little more and learn to communicate better . Thank God my wife speaks French or our first impression would not have been very positive. We had to visit several rooms before finding one that was acceptable, but we found one despite the reception team's reticence. The problem was solved and the rooms were very clean and the beds wonderful. The rest of the staff was very helpful and super nice, and meeting the concierge ,Jessica, made a big difference. We took the demi-pension and had a breakfast buffet and dinner buffet. We were amazed both by the quality/quantity for the price. They have great live entertainment including a fantastic jazz trio in the piano bar. The spa treatment was lovely too.

Rooms are not sound proof.

I stayed there 2 night in one of the rooms part called "Les Palmas".
The room looked nice but that's all what I can say about it.

Cons:
- Tailed floor all over room. I was dirty and sticky.
- You can here what is playing in the other room or outside. Needs better sound proofing.
- All the restaurants are quiet overpriced for the quality of the food they are serving.
- Shower .. I'm not tall and the shower head was at my eyes level. And the hose was not long enough.

Pros:
- Free parking
- Breakfast was really good.
- Swimming pool, beach area
- Friendly staff with good enough English to understand each other :)

Nope!

We stayed here 3 nights in a Junior Suite king - in a supposedly renovated room in the Les Palmes building. We won't be back - not horrible but not up to standard either.

In summary it was French in the bad ways (hand held shower, service) and not in the good ways (wine, cheese, foie gras)

Cons-
Hand-held shower -$300 a night in a 'renovated' room and i have to hold the shower wand?? Not even a bracket to hold it up. We asked for a room with an overhead shower but hotel was sold out. Apparently you can get an overhead shower in an unrenovated room a couple of price points below the room we booked - not sure I would take a chance on one of their unrenovated rooms.

Internet - wifi was absolutely horrible. You get one pass code for one device with the internet 'included' rate.
Want more? €5 per passcode - good for a week but do you really need to shake me down for an extra €5?! Then they keep kicking you out so you have to log back in (and remeber their password). When you were 'on' it was spotty and slow

Food - mostly average and limited options. We ate the buffet dinner our 1st night - only option and pricey at €33. They were out of items and were packing up 40 minutes before 'closing'. Fish was way overcooked. For another dinner we ate at their 'fancy' resturant- food service and wine were all meh at best. (try to eat Dinner off property - we walked to Nopal and liked it)

Design - some artsy architect got the brillant idea to wall off one side of the pool with partition glass and put a bunch of unused tables on the other side. It would have been a lot better to leave it open and have more pool chairs

Ceiling Fans - none! Seriously - you are in the caribbean and there is zero breeze in th covered but open air bar area and reception area. Ceiling fans are no brainers but are glaringly absent.

Concierge - extremely limited hours - like 8-10 am then a few hours around 5 pm. They were helpful after your wait (because they are only open 2 hours so everyone has to see them at the same time!)

Pros-
Breakfast was very good and included in our rate

English - contrary to other posts, not much of a problem at all. Our french is limited to non-existent and we never found this to be a real problem

Staff - for the most part the people are very nice, helpful, pleasant.

Pool and beach area are both nice.
