Don't judge a book by it's cover!
Chumlieon 01/07/2012 15:06Initially, it looks very basic but it's very clean and the room has everything you actually need in it. Owner was very friendly and spoke very good English, rides a motorbike so could give us some lovely ideas for a ride out along the coast to Spain, which we enjoyed. He even offered to lend us his sat nav when he found out ours had broken and we were having to navigate the old fashioned way!
It was very quiet while we were there so it was just the plat de jour on offer rather than the buffet but the food was excellent on both nights and very good value for money, wine was perfectly drinkable and we tried the rose, red and the white!!
We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
Don't arrive before the check in time as he doesn't open until 5 but he was there on the dot of this. You can still park up and there are table and chairs to sit in while you wait.

Robsreviewson 31/08/2011 12:15We have just returned from spending three night's in this hotel along with two friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When we arrived the owner greeted us and took us to our room's, which were comfortable, very clean, quite spacious, and had an excellent walk-in shower.
When we went down to reception after leaving our belonging's in our room the owner offered us a carafe (on the house) by way of welcome, of the excellent and refreshing local rose wine, while we were sampling this he told us some information about the hotel itself. It was formerly a convent, and still has a statue of the "Virgin" looking down from above onto the small courtyard, which is an excellent place to sit in the evening while drinking more of the local Baixas wine, very, very relaxing.
We dined in the hotel restaurant on two of our three night's and found it very good value, it was 13.5 euro for the buffet plus the plat du jour, which, when considering prices in France was amazing value, also the local wine was 4 euro for a half litre, and was extremely drinkable, "we should know".
The hotel's location is a very good base for exploring the region, we drove off in different direction's each day to explore the area, then returned to once again relax in the little courtyard for a pre-dinner glass of wine. There is also a local winery in the village which you can visit to do some tasting before you buy, apart from the rose wine they also have a local red and white wine, so well worth a visit.
The staff could not have been more helpful, the owner himself could not do enough for us, also the cleaning ladies, the breakfast staff etc, every single one was extremely pleasant to us during our stay.
We all really enjoyed our stay, and will certainly return to this hotel the next time we visit this region.

nckpon 07/05/2011 21:07Great little hotel - excellent value and the friendly owner speaks English, French and Spanish., Good restaurant. The medieval town is about glorious.
