What People are saying

Perfect if you have a car and are beginner skier

Midoriyaon 06/02/2017 21:48

This place is hard to get by public transport. From Geneva airport, you take oui bus to Megevé and then only way to come here is by cab, which is not cheap.
Le plan is so tiny, they have only one mini market which opens limited time and one or two restaurants. There's hourly shuttle bus to la giettaz but again, that's so small with only few shops and cafés. I visited their visitor centre only to be told the only one museum is for groups only and their church was locked. Absolutely nothing to do.
Ski is fine and sure the lift is in front of this place, but it's at the very edge of the Mont Blanc area and you have to take other drag lifts etc to reach anywhere and because there's only one way to come back to la giettaz by ski, that run is particularly bad if the snow is not great.
When I visited, other guests were mainly from Belgium and France, some from Germany. They come by carful of food, etc, and la giettaz is perfect for beginners or small kids to play in the snow. They have nice snowshoe course as well.
The host is nice couple they really look after you and their new spa is nice bonus after a day skiing, even though I found the layout of it bit strange.
Room I stayed was very clean, well equipped but bit cold to begin with, because the heating was off until I got there in the evening.
So, if you want to have quite ski holiday amongst local people and if you have a car to explore the area a bit, yes go ahead, but if you don't drive and want to have more variety of slopes, this is not the place for you, even nothing is wrong with this accommodation. Oh, wifi is only available at the reception area.

Gorgeous spot

We were there out of ski season, and the scenery was exceptional. It would be a great base for skiing with the chairlift virtually at the door. In summer there's a lot of hiking trails. The village is tiny so totally quiet (except the cow bells!). La Giettaz is only 3km away with quite a few cafes/restaurants etc.

Trekking in the Alps

The hotel fitted perfectly with our plans. I would not rate it as an excellent one, but it is rather alright considering the area and, once again, it suited our purpose: trekking in the alps!

Rooms: very spacious, no AC, no hairdryer, WiFi connection, some of the rooms have a fully equipped kitchen, TV set, beds are rather uncomfortable.

Front desk: the owner is very kind (gave us the opportunity to take a shower after trekking even if our stay in the hotel was over), she is always on a hurry though.

Breakfast: served at the restaurant next door, french style with toasts, croissants and local pastry (escargots). Dinner was excellent.

Location: nice surroundings with plenty of trekking paths and view to the mont blanc (from the top of the hill, not from the hotel), very calm.

Building: is very old style and typical haut-savoie cottage. Parking spot available. No pool.

All in all I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely come back to the area once more.

Spendid!

We booked this appartment because of its perfect location and its price. When we arrived we were surprised to find a country style spacious, clean , well equipped appartment with woodcrafted handmade chiseled doors and furniture. The chalet was build by the owner when he was 22! His wife Giselle is very friendly and helpfull, their son is the chef cook of their restaurant and prepares sausages himself in the old family tradition. This place is a treasure...

BEWARE re payments

James Jon 12/04/2012 11:08

Credit card payment taken before arrival, paid balance in cash, they took another credit card payment!!
Due to "the appartment" being v small, having only 4 mugs & no other cutlery/plates, we negotiated breakfast and a reduced price, having shaken hands on this, they got their own back by taking an additional card payment.
Dangerous looking wiring in hall & room, very expensive wine, food good but expensive
Our room was in the roof, webb photo misleading
Son helpful mother not so
