Nice hotel
GtravellerALCon 09/01/2017 16:19Booked this hotel due to the proximity to Monachil and the Sierra Nevada as my partner and I had planned a few hikes.
If you want a small hotel that is out of town so offers peace and quiet then this is the place for you. If you want to be able to walk into the town and leave the car then I wouldn't recommend as it is quite far out.
The hotel has friendly staff, clean room ( there were a few choice stains on the bedspread though ) and a big plus, the heating in the room was perfect, the radiator was on so room was nice and cosy when we arrived. Plenty of hot water for a shower after a day walking and travelling.
However, after deciding to wash my hair the next morning as was very tired and couldnt be bothered faffing around with drying it I was disappointed to find that there was not a drop of hot or even warm water. I went down to reception to be told there had been an issue with water the day before and it seems it was still on the blink. As we were leaving that day it meant i couldn't have a shower or wash my hair and I left the hotel with alot of disappointment.
I understand these things happen and that is why I have still been generous with my rating as the staff were nice, the food in restaurant, though not tried looked appetising, and the room was quite large and with good heating ( which in Jan is a necessity ).
The water problem and stained bedspread the only things to mark this hotel down on.
Great location, so-so food
Graeme Blackon 25/04/2016 17:22La Encina is in a fantastic location, on the edge of the Sierra Nevada national park and 7 minute's drive from Granada. The owner is friendly and the rooms were comfortable. On the downside the food wasn't great and there was an unfortunate dog chained up outside all night without even a blanket.

BrianJessDon 27/05/2014 14:52We stayed at this hotel for 3 days while visiting Granada. It was a little difficult to get to the first time, but overall the location is great. Very close to the Alhambra and parking locations for the city. The rooms are very nice and clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathrooms were big compared to other bathrooms in Spain. The wifi worked perfectly in the room, which is a big deal because at many hotels it didn't. The view from our room overlooked the city and was amazing; we sat and looked out over the town many hours in the evening. The staff didn't speak English but did there best! We highly recommend this hotel if you have a vehicle!
simple, good value for price
BJTEBKKon 23/09/2013 16:54Nice location, just at the entrance of the national park and a great place to start hiking or riding on into the mountains with a mountain bike. The views from just 5 minutes away are gorgeous.
The hotel is basic, with your typical service (one person does all) experience. I am sure in summer the place and terrace is bustling. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Elevator is useful and views from the rooms are nice. TV is old but bed is good and sheets are comfortable. Shower offers great pressure and heat..
Breakfast is typical toast, tomato sauce (no, not ketchup) and olive oil cold cuts. The restaurants serves local "amuse bouche" that are like meal sizes... They also have a nice selection of local wines.
parking is free out front - plenty of safe places.
All in all , a nice place...
