BEAUTIFUL view, private terrace, centrally-located, walk to beach
bcdudason 29/05/2017 19:39Had an amazing stay for 7 days in early May of 2017. Room was spacious and clean with a large private terrace that overlooked the ocean, mountains, cliffs, and town below. Private terrace also included a mini fridge which was stocked each day with beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic (very convenient and much appreciated!). Central location allowed for less than a 10 minute walk to the beach. Dozens of local restaurants within walking distance too with a range of options from casual to fine dining. PESCE SPADA (swordfish) is abundant and delicious! La Locandiera staff were extremely accommodating, friendly and knowledgable about the area. Would HIGHLY recommend. We will be returning next year!!!!
Fabulous location, beautiful views, lovely hosts
enrico pon 03/01/2017 17:20We loved La Locandiera and would absolutely recommend it to others. The host was kind enough to pick us and our luggage up at the top of a steep hill in his ape (three wheel vehicle) and drive us down to the hotel. We rented two rooms with sea views: both rooms #5 and #6 had beautiful sea views, but room #6 was really spacious and decidedly a better value for the (same) price. The place was clean, tastefully decorated, and had great heating in winter (we came in Jan). There was a gorgeous breakfast buffet and a really nice host who made us fresh coffee and gave us recommendations for our trip. A real gem!!
Review of Stay
judy92015on 14/09/2016 15:19More of a small hotel than a bed and breakfast. Lots of empty rooms when we were there. Amazing sea views. Great room with beautiful decor. Breakfast was fine. Nothing particularly special.
Call ahead of your arrival. No cars allowed in village. Parking is at the top of this cliff side town. They will send a tuk-tuk to transport you and your baggage to the front door.
Front desk is unattended most of the time. Owner doesn't live here. Be prepared to ask check in person to make a copy of your passport or he will keep it on the desk till you depart. Not particularly safe even though the front door is locked.
Lovely B&B in beautiful Scilla would be even better if breakfast and WiFi access were improved
Donal901on 06/09/2016 10:53This is a lovely place to stay in the heart of Chianalea, the most picturesque part of the beautiful town of Scilla. I had paid extra for a sea view, and it was easily worth it - the view from my room was stunning. The room itself was very comfortable, with a very good bed and effective air conditioning. The standards of housekeeping were very high, and both room and bathroom were impeccably clean. It was a great boon to have a mini-bar that was large enough to store my own supply of drinks as well as those supplied by the management; having enough cooled water easily available became very important as outside temperatures soared.
The very small group of staff at this little hotel work tirelessly to ensure their guests have a good stay, and are always polite and pleasant.
On the more negative side - the choice at breakfast was poor and the food not very appetising. WiFi was erratic and extremely undependable. These problems, should really be sorted out if La Locandiera is to become the really great destination it could easily be. Even the WiFi would not be a problem if it were made clear to prospective guests that access is so erratic. The breakfast though should be sorted - a more generous and varied supply of fruit, and better bread, would be a start - the large variety of different sorts of rather indifferent cake is not necessary and does not make up for the lack of variety of everything else.
Getting baggage to or from the main road was inconvenient, involving either a stiff climb or a long-ish walk along the cobbled lanes of Chianalea, or getting a tuk tuk type taxi to do the job for you. If you are able-bodied, however, I wouldn't allow this to put you off as it is a small price to pay for such a great location and such magnificent views.
Wonderful quite place!
AndreaScottion 16/08/2016 10:59The best place that my wonderful friends could choose for us for their wedding! A beautiful discovery in the gorgeous frame of Scilla.
Quite place to be like at home in front of the see with a good courtesy from the waiters and a tasty local breakfast.
We were very lucky to have the best room of the B&b with a big terrace were we could get nice aperitif admiring the wonderful view you can appreciate from there!
A pearl!
