What People are saying

Poor Value for the Price Paid

MBA296on 16/05/2016 18:26

This was one of four hotels that we stayed in and at 286 Euro For two nights it was the most expensive.
Let's start with the positives. It was spotlessly clean, and on the edge of the old town in a good position for visiting the historical sites of Córdoba (which are stunning)

That said I would call the establishment a guest house rather than a hotel (albeit charging hotel prices). The room was adequate, but nothing special. There were no public rooms except for a very small "cafeteria" bar (and I do mean small, there were three tables., very close to each other. Our room with a "river view" turned out to have a view of the main road, the local municipal play park, with a shopping mall as a back drop.

Check in was slow....extraordinarily slow. Once finished we asked the man checking us in if he had any information on the local festival taking place....and were handed the previous year's schedule, as far as I could make out we were being told (with a shrug of the shoulders) "one year is pretty much the same as the next

For reasons we could not quite understand we were asked to phone reception 10 minutes before going down for breakfast (we forgot one morning, and the owner was clearly exasperated by this) I cannot understand the reason for the call....breakfast was "frugal" to put it politely. One small glass of juice. One small coffee One slice of toast One slice of processed cheese, still in the plastic One slice of very cheap processed ham. One Value brand yoghurt (a tip to the "chef" if you are going to serve your customers the cheapest of food do at least have the good sense to take it out of the packaging marked "value brand" first We are still puzzling why it needed 10 minutes warning to put this together, particularly as it took at least a further 10 minutes to be served on the morning when we had warned that we were coming. There was a pleasant little courtyard, which might have made breakfast feel a little more appetising, but the owners had not bothered to put the tables and chairs out, and so this feast took place in the cramped cafeteria

Other reviewers have mentioned the pleasant and friendly owners, we found them to be, at best, polite, nothing more (unless you forgot to give them the 10 minute warning, then it got quite frosty.....uncomfortable as we were the only people in at the time)

All in all we found this to be adequate, for what it was.,,,,,essentially a guest house, but very poor value at the price we paid, particularly compared to the other hotels we stayed in on the same trip (In Seville, Granada and Malaga)

Fortunately Córdoba itself is stunning, and a good way to making up for feeling ripped off by the "hotel" I would definitely recommend it. I would definitely not go back to this hotel, nor would I recommend it

Everything excellent

This is a small hotel situated in a beautiful old house by the river at the outskirts of the old town. The Mezquita is within less than ten minutes walking distance, and basically all of old town is within less than fifteen minutes. There is a lot of free parking space nearby, next to the Eroski shopping centre.

We stayed in the smallest room. There was easily enough space for all of our stuff, and the room was very clean and beautifully furnished. The owners are very friendly and do their best to make you feel like at home. Breakfast is excellent, everything is fresh and made to order. I really did not expect this level of service and luxury for this price.

A beautiful home

This was one of the most comfortable places I stayed in Spain. The owners work hard to make it comfortable. I had the smallest room in the hotel but it was fine for a single. It is set up as a double but I don't think a couple would be comfortable. It had a pristine bathroom attached, the bedroom had a view out to the Mezquita, breakfast was delicious and it is in a good location. My only very minor criticism is a very slow to drain shower.

Family hotel

Our room was small, but very clean and with a beautiful bathroom. The owner and his wife are proud of their hotel. They are very lovely and serve a small but delicious breakfast (there are many choices, I recommend the serano ham toast). While it was a bit loud (next to a busy street), it was a great stay. The main attractions (e.g. the mezquito) are 10mins by foot.

Personal Touch - small yet efficient - great location - real local knowledge

globalcuriosity2015on 26/05/2015 18:17

A great combination between personal warmth and professionally running a small, family-owned hotel. One felt cared for in the best possible sense. We also enjoyed the fact that we had to converse in Spanish which forced us out of our comfort zone and out of the blandness of everybody speaking English all the time.
We would not hesitate to recommend or use again as a base for Cordoba.
Thank you very much!
