Both Good and Very Disappointing

My husband, daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights recently, while in town for a wedding. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. We were especially impressed with Tirzah, one of the assistant managers. The hotel itself is lovely and the beds very comfortable. Our room was situated in a quiet area of an upper floor, as I'd requested. The breakfast buffet was quite nice. But, our room was definitely not clean. There was a man's dirty undershirt in the top dresser drawer. The floors had very obviously not been vacuumed. There was what looked like dried coffee with cream spilled all down the side of the dresser/credenza on the side directly facing the door. That is was so obvious and still ignored by the cleaning staff was very off-putting. There was hair in the sink and also behind the toilet. All of which Tirzah immediately came up and cleaned herself when I called down to the front desk to complain. Ordinarily, we would have checked out immediately, but we were all going on 3 hours of sleep, exhausted, and unfamiliar with the Austin area. And, with Tirzah's quick help, we rested comfortably the two days we were here. She is to be commended. But, I do have to add two more observations. Yes, it is very possible this room was accidentally overlooked by the cleaning staff when the last guest checked out. I've never had that happen before in all the years I've been traveling, but it is possible. But, the morning before we did check out, I dropped my brush on the bathroom floor under the long, built-in sink area. There I found thick black grime all along the entire top of the white/cream colored baseboard. The wall was also the same color, and the grime should have been very obvious to anyone of the cleaning staff. So, there is no excuse in my mind that housekeeping can definitely be very lacking at this hotel.

The hotel was undergoing renovations, which did not inconvenienced me at all - if the front desk hadn't told me, I would never have known. Staff was awesome and very friendly and helpful. Room was a bit dated, but nice. Everything was clean and stocked. Overall I was very happy with my stay.

Convenient location for north Austin area

Great, more complete fitness center than average. Nice and clean room. Great price for that area. Currently under renovation which should make it nicer so long as price doesn't increase significantly.

Excellent Lodging

This LaQuinta is our home away from home when we go to Austin. It is well situated for easy access to any part of the city, and the management and staff are exceptionally capable. Now under renovation, the site will be even better with the improvements that are underway.

Facilities are aged and in poor condition. Amenities are sparse or non-existent. Not up to standard for La Quinta. Staff was courteous, but rather incompetent. Noise passes easily through walls from outside.
