What People are saying
Give them a chance
Lisa Bon 14/08/2017 14:14Look folks. This is a place that is trying to renovate and turn this old hotel into a very decent place. Obviously, the last hotel chain that was located here let the place go downhill. There are signs of old but also a visible effort being made to make this a very nice hotel.
Our room was clean and newly remodeled. The bed was very comfortable with a 3 different pillow types to suit anyone's pillow desires. The pool area is landscaped and has comfortable seating. Breakfast was terrific. The biscuits and gravy were amazing.
There were no bugs in our room. Didn't hear any noises or people yelling in the halls. I went to my car several times during the night and was never afraid of being mugged. I see these bad reviews and I shake my head. There are bad hotels out there...this isn't one of them. As the hotel clearly states when you walk in the door....They are in the process of remodeling and making this a better place. The staff was friendly and I have no complaints whatsoever. I would stay here again. To me, it's nice to see a place that's just starting and making progress to be better.
This was not a good choice
Rob and Tracy Hon 09/08/2017 18:40The rooms were moldy smelling, and there was a smell of mold in the hallways. On the 2nd floor, they had an apparent malfunction with the ice machine, so there was water EVERYWHERE, including the hallway carpet. It was squishing up when you walked through. Now, granted, these things happen, but the moldy smell told me that it wasn't the first time. Plus, this left the entire hotel with one working ice machine, that performed poorly at best, on the 5th floor. They are renovating, but our room wasn't one that'd been done, so maybe things will get better. I hate leaving less than stellar reviews, but we were only here for a couple days. We won't be going back
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! HORRIBLE LOCATION & ROOMS!!!
bblack0218on 14/07/2017 14:58When I read the description of this hotel, I didn't think it was so bad. I was badly mistaken. When we arrived to the hotel, we weren't allowed to check in early, which was fine. We went downtown and came back 5 hours later. The room we were put in was dirty. There was still trash in the room from the prior occupants. We were originally told they had no more rooms available, but were given the key to another room and told to try it to see if it was clean. It appeared to be but appearances can be deceiving. We started taking showers that night and after seeing the first room we were in, I was scared to let anyone walk on the floor barefoot so my son put on his socks. The floors were so nasty that the bottom of his socks looked like he had been walking around outside in them. Then, the shower head had mold growing on it that I had to clean off before we could shower. At 11:30pm we decided to turn on the TV to let everyone unwind a bit before we went to sleep. NOPE! The TV didn't work. The lady at the front desk informed us that we could be moved yet again because that TV had been down for over a week and the cable company would have to be the ones to fix it. Now as to the location, it's awful. There were homeless people sitting on the sidewalk behind the hotel, and we were privileged enough to get to hear one of them as he decided to yell and cuss in his drunken state from our balcony. The pool was green and dirty. The manage informed me that since I had booked my stay through a third party site, I wasn't eligible for them to discount my room or stay and since I had threatened to inform my employer to not send any more of our coworkers to stay here and I would not be staying there again and I was going to be giving them a bad review that he could only discount or refund the stay on future stays but because of my threats he didn't feel that would be well suited for me. In the description, it says a roll away bed is available at a surcharge. That's not true either if you have a room with 2 queen beds. Those are only available if you have a room with a king bed in it which is not stated anywhere in the hotel description. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The beds do not sleep well and the dirtiness and location should make you RUN as far away as possible.
Old facility but clean room
Catherine Son 11/07/2017 00:57My family with two children spent two nights at this facility. It is an old building, nothing fancy about the sitting area in the "lobby" but it was clean and the food was average.
The grounds were clean, the restroom was clean, the clerks were pleasant, the hallway and stairs were clean and fresh smelling and our room was clean. At no time did we feel unsafe although it is not in an upscale location. It was no loud noise in or outside of this facility.
The pool was not clean when we arrived on Friday but it was cleaned on Saturday and a lot of families with small children were in the pool on Saturday afternoon.
The location was close to downtown and we drove so could not say how long it would have been to walk. There are three corner stores close. The store close to the KFC was open all night with bars on the door where as the gas station in front of the hotel had security bars and you had to order after hours through the window.
There was a problem with the Wi-Fi. It did not work properly and therefore we could not use our laptop and the TV selections was OK.
It was not what I expected but I would not say that I would never stay here again but there are better choices. A positive note is there was a sign stating that they are doing some remodeling.
Better Options in Area
Mike Con 04/07/2017 01:43Save your money and find a better option. The place is located in a shady area and the building is old. My room had the old feel. The bathroom floor tiles (entire room) were stained and looked dirty. Tried scrubbing the stain to see if it was dirt but wasn't. The staff member at check-in was friendly. If it wasn't for it being the July 4th weekend, I would have opted to find another hotel. Tearing the building down and starting from scratch would be better for future investment.
