Not well maintained

Arriving in El Dorado for a two day business trip, the lobby was nice and modern, but the front desk clerk was clearly in a foul mood. She didn't greet me or respond to my hello, ore even acknowledge my presence as she typed in the computer. When she was finished, without looking up she asked, "What is the name?". I gave her my name, was given a room and told where the closest entrance would be. No mention of the usual bottle of water or snack that is offered rewards, members. Once to the room, it was a small, single style room. No Suites on offer at this La Quinta. The door opened on to the pool which was 1/2 drained and dirty, scattered pool furniture, and dirty decking - it looked like a mess. I asked the clerk if I could be moved to one of the rooms facing the parking lot so I'd be able to keep an eye on the motorcycles. I was told no, there are no other rooms. I've taken a few photos to show the level of maintenance. The box of Trojan condoms in the drawer of the nightstand, broken desk chair, torn and buckled carpet had me looking to see if there was a different hotel nearby. In the end, I've decided to stick it out. I'll be here once every two months for business, I can assure the reader, I wont be back to this La Quinta.
A PLEASANT WEEK'S STAY
derekl709on 15/03/2017 15:37Our stay was for a week. Rooms were clean, staff was congenial, and the property was quiet. I'll stay there again in the Fall. Property has had the same owner for many years and it's evident he cares about his customers and hotel.
Not as nice as others
tabithapennon 14/03/2017 03:51This La Quinta is not as nice as other hotels in the chain. The lobby was updated but the rest of the rooms were not. The room was ok but it was dusty. There's a new hotel being built next door and construction crews are staying at this hotel. There's dirt and clumps of mud all over the carpet all through the hotel. I realize the situation but they should vacuum more often. The staff at the front desk was nice.
Not impressed
B8060UBchristopherson 28/02/2017 14:41This hotel is falling apart. The lobby appears in good shape but the rooms are far from acceptable. Dirty rooms. Bathroom fixtures falling off the wall. Stains in toilet bowl. AC makes loud noises keeping me awake. Plugs in the desk were not screwed in and the fixture came out of it. Large gaps in the main door reducing privacy. Hotel needs a major renovation or a major price decrease.
Pleasant rooms, especially when traveling with pets
Mikiemwon 24/01/2017 22:36This is an older hotel, but the room was clean, the A/C worked well, and the bed was comfy. We stayed just one night, brought our little Shorkie with us, and it was really convenient to have a ground floor room with direct access outside for walks. Even tho it faced the parking lot it was quiet. For the price, location and pet-friendliness it can't be beat!
