What People are saying

Mamounia's rates, without the service.

Clément Mon 23/08/2017 20:41

We stayed for two nights, as a family of 4, occupying two bedrooms.
Pros :
The location is great, beautifully situated in the lagoon.
Stunning views and beautiful beach.
The traditional architecture of the hotel is amazing. Very nice garden, pool, and Spa.
There are only 12 rooms but make sure you get the rooms with the front view.
The rooms are confortable, and spacious, with a nice patio, and individual sea water jacuzzi.
The restaurant is good.

Cons :
Steep, narrow and not maintained dirt road for 700 m to get access to the hotel.
The friendly, amateuristic and clumsy service from the staff, with the rates they apply (we are talking about 900 euros per night for 4 people) is not acceptable. A theses rates you expect perfection, and this hotel is far from it.

Some examples :
- We requested a quiet table for dinner. We got one next to a table with noisy children. When we asked for an other table, the waiter explained that for the one we wanted a 24 hrs delay applied. Whilst leaving for dinning in town once of a sudden it was possible.
- The Hammam was hardly warm, probably due to a contruction defect. They tried to explain us that this was the "Moroccan traditional way".
- The Spa with the indoor swimming pool smells, and you get a reminder each time you go to your hotel room.
- Not always hot water for shower.
- They use cheap locks for the rooms, which makes them difficult to open.
- The reception seems to have only one phone line, try to get hold of them.
- The breakfast buffet will not impress you but the number of flies in and around the hotel will

A very nice hotel, at a very nice location, but completely overpriced.

A place to unwind and relax.

We were looking for total relaxation...and we got it! This place is an absolute delight on so many levels; The hotel itself is wonderful and each room is private and well-appointed (the private terrace and salt-water jacuzzi were very special). The pool area was peaceful and serene (fresh juices, iced tea and poolside massages were an added bonus!). The views of the lagoon from everywhere in the hotel are ever-changing and mesmerising and the joy of sitting alongside the beach to eat our meals in the restaurant (we didn't eat anywhere else for all 6 nights of our stay) was a treat indeed. Some people have mentioned that the restaurant is expensive and we have to agree - it is! But if you stick to what they do best, fresh fish, then it works at at around £12-£15 for a main course, which is actually pretty good value. The staff are incredible and from the management to the waiters and room service, simply cannot be faulted. They are all there purely and simply to make your stay as perfect and stress free as possible. A huge 'thank you' to all of them for doing just that. Our stay was pretty perfect in every way. One reviewer complained about the spa and I understand form the management that they are working to improve the spa offer. This encapsulates their attitude to customer service. If something's not right, they'll do what they can to make it right. La Sultana.... Moroccan hospitality at its best. Thank you to Khalil and his team.

A paradise hotel

This romantic hotel, perched above the beautiful lagoon of Oualidia, is a sumptuous palace hotel with beautifully designed gardens, an infinite pool and terraces with panoramic vistas of the bay. The attention to details is exquisite, rooms are wonderfully designed, with a small Jacuzzi on the terrace.
Me and my family have stayed at the hotel very often.
We were always very well received and enjoy the lovely spa on the facilities. I highly recommend the luxury hamman.
The food is excellent, from the lobster to the crab salade and without forgetting the desserts. We immensely enjoy the fresh fish of the day with a glass of crisp white. We also take pleasure in watching the sunset while eating local oysters on the wooden deck floating above the lagoon.
The staff are very helpful and attentive.
La Sultana hotel offers a unique escape, a door into a paradise environment where you can relax and enjoy every moment.

dont go to the spa

we stayed at La Sultana for 6 days. the day before we left I decided to have an anti-aging facial and a massage. the facial should have been 60 min. so there was only time for a 50 min massage. she woman who did my facial was so abrasive when she was touching my face. it actually hurt but I thought she needed to go deep for blackheads. after the facial another woman came in for the massage. she turned me over so my face was in the hole with fabric all around it, so any and all creams were gone from my face. she started at my feet and finshed at my face! wait didn't I just have a facial? and you used the same hands that massaged my feet to touch my face?? when done I went immediately back to the room, which was 6:15. how could it be 6:15 when my spa treatments didn't start till 5? then I went to take a shower and saw my face! my nose and chin were blood red. it looked like she had broken my blood vessels and/or capillaries. I went to the front desk and they called the general manager. I saw him a few hours later and then he in turn called another manager who then called me in my room at 10:30 pm. he asked me to email him what happened. not only did I email him I also sent him a pic of my face. his response was that they removed the treatment from my bill for this 'little mischief". I wouldn't call this mischief. I escalated this to head office of Small Luxury Hotels, and being as honest as I can, they did nothing. so, Never Never stay at one of these hotels. they call themselves luxury, but when theres a problem, they turn their backs.

I had the opportunity to stay for a short break at the Sultana Oualidia and my dream is to go back there again next week....I work in the Hotel Industry for many years but I can say the the Sultana is the top ranking and the ideal place for a nice celebration. Every single detail is well controled and consistant which is not always easy....I wish I could give 7/5 rating....Thanks a lot to Nabil and his team but also the F/B brigade who are very efficient hope to see you soon Joel
