We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience for our family!

As a family of 7 that has travelled to many, many places, we know exactly what we want and need in a hotel. Lakelawn exceeded our expectations! The motel was conveniently located within minutes of the ferry. The first impression was perfect, as it has beautiful grounds full of flowers and beautiful landscape. There is plenty of comfortable seating outside to enjoy the scenery. The innkeeper, Matthew, waited up for us and gave up the best welcome we have ever experienced. I never thought I would want to stay up talking and laughing after a 4 hour drive and 5.5 hour ferry ride! We decided to eat the sit-down breakfast in the am, which was well worth it!!!1 The food was delicious with impeccable presentation. A HUGE serving of fresh and flavorful fruit, toast with jams, eggs, fried potatoes, and Canadian bacon. Speaking of impeccable, the rooms were spotless. I didn't feel the need to clean before allowing my family to settle in for the night. The mattresses and pillows were so COMFORTABLE. I am very picky, and was happy with my sleep. I cannot say enough about Matthew, the innkeeper. He was welcoming, funny, hospitable, and giving. He assured our comfort at all times. Hot tea and coffee after we were out sightseeing, packing a goodie bag for our daily travels, and made himself available at all times for us. We will miss him the most! Made our trip to Nova Scotia THE BEST.

Best Place EVER!!!!

After our stay with Matthew and Lakeland Motel, we would love to come back here every year. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had in all of our travels. Matthew was so welcoming and concerned with our comfort and enjoyment. My very first impression of the motel was "Oh my heavens, it is so clean!" and then our two days were ones of 'wow, how nice'. He planned our sightseeing adventures and connected us to all of the restaurants. Even sent us off with a doggy bag for the kids which they dug into within the first hour. Thank you Mathew and Lakeland Motel staff.

From the beautiful flowers that greet you to the small thoughtful details, this is a warm ,friendly and cozy place to stay. The dining room was elegant and inviting. The breakfast was delicious, we especially enjoyed the fresh fruit. The owner is professional and warm. The concern for everyone who worked there was that we have the best stay possible.

Great place to stay!

I took the advice of the "Lonely Planet" Nova Scotia guide to stay here, and am glad I did! Lakelawn was easy to find and Matthew was very welcoming. Before I had fully checked in, he called my car rental company, on my behalf, to resolve an issue. He took the time to map out routes to destinations in Yarmouth, to avoid road closures. My room was spacious, quaint and super clean. As a solo female traveler I would highly recommend Lakelawn.

A wonderful stay.

We spent one night at the Lakelawn on a driving tour of Nova Scotia. We booked via their web page and it was very quick and simple. For the price we paid we were expecting more of a motel type stay but were surprised to find a lovely building with lots of character and exceptional service.
The Lakelawn was easy to find and is in a lovely location, close to a park and the water and just a short drive takes you to downtown or to the huge mall. There is plenty of parking space.
Check-in was quick and simple and Mathew the owner was very warm and welcoming. He also suggested places to visit and restaurants for dinner.
We had booked a room on the second floor, in the main building. The room at the front of the property was stunning. Beautiful furniture and nicely decorated. It felt more like a boutique hotel or a country inn - certainly not a motel. There were lots of nice touches and it was warm and cosy. The bed was comfy., there was a TV with cable channels. The bathroom though compact had everything we needed and there were plenty of towels.
After a great night's sleep we headed down to breakfast in the dining room. It was a beautiful, spacious room, gorgeous furniture, potted plants, tastefully decorated, we instantly felt at home. Mathew served us coffee and juice and then delivered the most amazing breakfast. It was a huge plate with eggs, ham, potato, and fruit. Every single item was perfectly cooked and presented. It was so generous that we had to leave some. The stay at Lakelawn will remain in our hearts for a long time, warm and friendly service and a gorgeous building in a lovely location. And an owner who puts so much love, care and attention into making the Lakelawn such a wonderful place to stay.
