Hospitality

Although there is no WIFI in this hotel due to local restrictions, our stay was unforgettable: nice and quiet room, good shower, nice breakfast (in the garden) and good restaurant. Everyhing that you need for some days in the nice environment of Kassel (only 15 minutes away)

Away from city life

Our trusty navigation system virtually took us to the front door. Not your typical hotel but very casual and exceptionally friendly husband and wife team owning and running the place. Our room and bathroom were a little on the small side but we managed OK. The typical German food was phenomenal and cooked to perfection. I speak sufficient German to keep me out of trouble as the couple themselves seem to have limited English skills. For me personally this was an added bonus which really made me feel being on holiday.

Great value but no internet

This B&B that advertises itself as a Hotel is a converted farm house with a small restaurant and a snug bar added at one end.
We were taken to our room by one of the owners. The room has a wardrobe with regular hangers but no in-room safe, a small chest of drawers, several lamps, BIG and fluffy down comforters and pillows but no privacy shades on the windows except for lace curtains. The beds were very comfortable we concluded the next morning. The TV channels were all in German, original or dubbed. Even though we booked our stay online there is no internet service provided, cable or WIFI. The bathroom is very narrow but has everything including a great rainfall shower. There were several sets of toiletries and even two tooth brushes.
She took our breakfast time order and repeated that the breakfast is EU 5 extra pp.
There were several locals at the bar chatting and drinking. My order of local beer and my wife's red wine were served promptly. The half carafe of wine is a VERY GENEROUS half carafe. Dinner service starts at 6:00 and we sat down at one of the 8 tables. The white linen table cloth, the sparkling glasses and flowers everywhere is a great touch in a small village on our way to Kassel.
Warning: The dinner portions are HUGE!! Little did we know. We shared a large plate of mixed greens, tomatoes and feta cheese salad after which our selections were served. My wife ordered the pork schnitzel and I opted for the chicken breasts and home made noodles. Did I say the portions are HUGE? Two or three people can dine on one (1) main dish. My wife could not finish her dinner as there were two (2) huge pork cutlets and many great tasting fries. My casserole was awesome but huge.
The next morning breakfast was served by the other co owner and he brought over two hard boiled eggs "fresh from the farm" he said. The offerings are first class with great tasting crusty and hot rolls, many breakfast meats, yogurt, fruit juice etc. etc. Well done!!
Checking out I paid the bill for:
One beer, two half carafes of wine, dinner, breakfast and lodging for two came to EU 105. Great value!
Bottom line: the venue is 25 kilometers west of Kassel but we had a great time.

Excellent place - great rooms and food

We stayed here as part of our Motorcycle tour from the UK via Belgium, The Netherlands, through Germany with our destination being Colditz and back, so really this was a stop off... and what a great place it was!
We arrived on a motorcycle (a bit weathered) and were shown to the lovely room which really could have been a 4/5*, with extras such as toothbrushes, bottled water and quality toiltries.
We enjoyed a few beers in the friendly bar and then need feeding - as I only have a brief understanding of German we knew we would struggle with the menu, however after we asked a local lady if she could help with the translation we had probably the best meal of the holiday and ended up making a few friends in the process - surely what travel is all about.
We had an excellent breakfast in the garden, which would have fed 4 or more.
A great nights sleep was had in the very comfy bed, big duvet and all linen freshly laundered.
Highley recommened as a place to stop and to be honest we wished we had stayed for more than one night.
