Attention to detail

maverick-34w9 on 30/10/2017 21:27

I have been staying at this hotel now with 3 guys that work for me and tbh it's just a long list of annoying issues that spoil our visits. Showers are very hit and miss tonight in room 125 I had it running fir over 40 mind and it was still stone cold, some of the beds are incredibly worn out and need changing. Heating is very difficult to control as a large heating pipe runs under the radiator so even when you switch the radiator off its still boiling.
Rooms a clean in general but room service is hit and miss with replacing used items and in my time here have missed cleaning my room twice.
Average trade style hotel that is overpriced for its current condition, evening meals were below average.
It's the best hotel in close proximity to work but I'm glad to be moving on soon.

Lovely afternoon tea

nickd0yle on 28/10/2017 21:38

This is just a lovely place to have a afternoon tea or even just to visit for a drink, we sat in a airy but comfortable conservatory at the front of the building, and had a very nice tea comprising of various sandwiches and cakes, with a glass of prosecco to start with and followed by unlimited tea or coffee.

Excellent old fashion traditional service

gsleeds on 10/10/2017 22:53

Just a last minute business trip phoned around and found the best deal in the area £79 while the others were asking the earth
Included the best breakfast I've had for a long time, unlimited sausages and bacon the full English what else a man could ask for first thing in the morning to cap it all the staff were all friendly the bar was well stocked including a guest ale. The meals are reasonable but not cheap but there are other eatery s nearby will be coming back next time I'm in the area and do recommend the place

Groupon deal

beltel1234 on 08/10/2017 21:27

Just had meal for two through groupon deal and had to write to say how lovely it was, some people on here seem to go out looking for things to complain about, so anyhoo we had a lovely meal, had a drink in the comfy bar area before going in for dinner, starters of brie and whitebait were very lovely, hot and fresh and the mains of steak pie and chicken korma were very nice too, pie was lovely! the building is clearly old and there are indeed some areas that could do with some attention the toilets for example but i think you can also see they are doing the best they can, and at the groupon price we paid i felt our dinner was a complete bargain, we will be back again, probably lovely in the summer!

The Staff were Great - but Management Obvously Cutting Corners

Graham U on 08/10/2017 10:28

These are difficult times financially; possibly why we got a 'deal' on our room, which was large enough, and comfortable in that impersonal way of hotels - and the pillows being small, the staff happily produced a third for me (I have breathing problems).

We avoided the dinners - menu sparse and expensive for just a burger (chips £3 extra).
The self-serve breakfasts (inclusive) were pretty good if you timed it right for freshly-cooked eggs. There was creamy porridge, but I missed stewed fruit. Butter, jams and yoghourts were all pre-packed portions. Fresh coffee and tea were made if you requested (otherwise might find too cool from dispenser jug). On our last morning, (a Monday) there being few guests, our breakfasts were specially cooked just for us. That's service!
Towels were changed every day, if needed. Nice bath SHEETS - much appreciated. Toiletries provided were 'ho-hum', and the teabags in our room were sparse and stale - and not enough milk left (only 2 pods per 24 hours for two adults).

This hotel had obviously seen better days - and why didn't they make us park in the large empty yard at back, instead of cluttering up the nice gardens in front?
